Does my 2000/W 230K have the electronic engine oil level check?, says it in the manual but nothing on the display within the car?

Probably, mine did...Spent ages looking for a dipstick, only to find out that it is electronic. :o :o

Anyway, i'm guessing that its the same but on mine you just zip thorugh the menus and on one of them...can't remember which... if you are stationary with the keys in (engine off) it reads oil and voila, best to RTFM as it may well be different

No joke, I did spend ages looking for the dipstick...should have looked in the mirror:o :o :o ;)

Also I saw on another car we tried that it had digital readout of the speedo, and ours doesnt seem to have it, was that something the 320 had and the 230 didnt?

My 1999 230k has a dipstick - the electronic way of checking doesn't seem to work.

My W203 (year 02) C200 has both, a dipstick and electronic read out in the display.
Shan.

I couldn't get it to work after reading the manual - then someone posted how to do it and I had success (one thing to be aware is to leave the car for long enough for the oil to settle otherwise it knows you are being stupid and ignores you).

How where's that thread - ah here

Also found a note saying car sould be off for at least 5 mins if warm and 30 mins if breifly started when cold (cold oil takes longer to drain back).

Serviced a 05 plated 203 last week and the dip stick was where the transmission dip stick usually sits. I had to check twice though and the conformation was that it was manual not auto.

Good job that you were awake and easily done, if your mind was wondering if sex would replace the Christmas pudding that could have made a lot of work
