Engine oil level low on dash- Twice in 1 month

My turn ! I just did an engine oil and filter change on my C55 (M113 V8) .

Using my iCarsoft to read the oil level it told me 62.12 mm (cold). After going for a drive to warm it up (this time using the iCarSoft to check that the oil was hot I lifted the car on the left hand side about 400mm in the air and vacuumed the oil oil of the rear sump. While it was up in the air I removed the sump plugs and lowered the car to get the +/- 700 ml that remains in the front sump to drain out, and a tiny drop from the rear sump.

In all I got a measured 8.1 litre out of it . I re filled with 8.5 Litres ,ran the engine and next morning when cold the level said 74.00 mm.

I did not bother with a dipstick , in fact the one I bought off fleabay a while back does not feel 'right' when going down the dipstick tube , feels like its going to get stuck or break one of those plastic bits off so I don't bother with it . (must get a better one)

Anyway . Thats my two pence worth on M113 oil changes .

PS I cut the filter open = all was as expected in there. PPS, for info the new filter was purchased from Mercedes Benz. It was made by Mann & Hummel

I made my own dipstick with one of those long spring curtain hangers we all used before rigid rods came in. Nothing to break off or get stuck, and once you know when it's full (because you filled it yourself), just mark the spring level with the top of the dipstick tube and the job is done.

I had the same issue, then realised my oil cooler had been hit by a stone on the motorway, and was leaking.....
