most of the sprinters i have worked on with rev/power problems have been down to fuel presure.
Find a local bosch special list with one of the KTS systesm or the current snap-on reader and they have an actual value's screen where you can see the presures..
I did a sprinter that was the same, very pedestrian to drive and stopped dead at 3000rpm..
Merc Change the MAF sensor, and boost controlor still to no avail. Changed fuel filter and injectors.
guy came over with it and we noted fuel pressure was about 600bar not the normal 1400-1600 bar, and boost preasure was 1 to 1.1 atmospheres
Changed the regulator on the back end of the rail and it was back to normal (was a 313cdi)
Find a decent garage and get them to check the data from the ecu... BTW if they use bosch gear on the diesels it will always show no air flow.. known sware bug..

Only other thoughts are that the boost preasure control valve( back box on baulk head that reposts boost presure to ecu) has failed or one of the vacume/presure pipes has come away..
Have seen error similar on golf 20v turbo where the egr had failed
and on diesel astra 16v where the boost actuator has seazed up and the ecu limited the fuel supply to stop the car over boosting.. sorted by some wd40 and a wiggle
