Even I wouldn't take this AMG on as a project...

Hate those ebay-cheaters where you just know that something isn't quite alright with them. One should really inform ebay about those practices me thinks...

What is not right with them, they are putting up for aution at no reserve and there terms and photo's make it pretty clear that you are bidding on a car with unknown mileage or history and are sold as "spares or repair" and in pretty poor condition. The problem is more the buyer who thinks they are getting a "bargain" until they view it or don't bother to turn up when the come to realise just how much it could cost to put it right.

Exactly this ^^

I sometimes put our part exchanges on eBay as spares or repairs even though there'll be very little wrong with them because you'd be amazed at what condition some people expect a van with 250k miles to be in.

I was referring to this post:

"I have been watching this seller for months. Time and time again the cars go through with no reserve and 'sell' only to be relisted again shortly afterwards. Some times several times over many weeks.
Really strange, very odd."

Something just doesn't sound quite alright to me if things like that happen...

The amount of cars I see re-listed on e-bay due to timewaisters not showing up etc.

Could well be shill bidding (I think this is what you're getting at), but could very well be bidders not showing up, bidders deciding not to buy (which is in their terms and conditions!) etc.

Seems to have a lot of cars to be shill bidding on without drawing attention from the automated software at ebay.

its probably a cc trade car, aka wbac as most of them are really rough, the good stuff they retail.

Spot on. The location they give is for a "webuyanycar" place near Prospect Park. It's never been the most salubrious of places, although curiously there's a Mini dealer next door.

I remember watching an E320 W211 which did just that. Eventually it stopped appearing.

A couple of months later I bought a E320 W211 which was a nightmare. A few months later I connected a few dots. I think in hindsight they were the same car, although I was never able to prove it for certain.

I'm not sure what people gain, other than not having to visit BCA themselves.

Driver's side electro mirror blown aswel by the look of it.

Wouldn't mind the new SL350 next to it, if it's going cheap :P

Being able to win the car, check it over/test it and walk away. With the associated fees and the high prices of cars a BCA Blackbushe its actually quite advantageous to buy from these guys if you pickup the right car.

I have watched loads of their cars. They often have realy high spec and unusual stuff. They have a lovely low miles s600 with a huge spec but it sold and relisted at least three times that I spotted.
I will post if the E55 turns back up again :)

'Sold' for £5374

It'll be back ...

I expect a vendor can get away with the shill-bidding by saying the buyer never showed.

I imagine eBay log IPs for bidding but whether they are tough on it as they are still making money... hmm.

Bit like the regular car selling site - they have hundreds of cars advertised at prices they aren't, which contravenes their policy, but unsurprisingly they don't seem that bothered to deal with it - although when they are making money anyway, perhaps it isn't a huge surprise.

Perhaps there were other faults and it was rejected? However this one ends its going to be an expensive fix.

Sure is. Just as Seamster said ^, but I wouldn't.
