F1 2019

I dont think Lewis could have ever won that race with that tyre strategy. A combination of the medium tyre and pressing clc all the way pretty much mandated that even if he had passed him he would eventually have had to come in for fresh tyres (we all saw the blistering), or been retaken by clc as the tyres degraded (even without the ferraris straight line advantage which would probably have seen clc get past pretty quiclly anyway)

Had Lewis got past without stressing his mediums, they may have suffered less degradation and been Ok for the duration. On the other hand, given the way that the Ferrari launched out of the parabolica and the strong slipstream effect, I agree beating Charles yesterday was unlikely. The

Agreed---given the Mercedes cars couldn't live with Ferrari on the straights maybe the strategy was give them a greater cornering advantage with a slightly softer tyre compound but prolonged slipstreaming accelerated degradation too much. Which poses the question that on the slightly different tyre strategies between the 2 Mercedes cars would the result have been any different had it been Hamilton gaining in second place at the end instead of Bottas- I suspect Toto Wolff was asking hmself that question also? [ According to Bottas he had problems of understeer under braking from lack of downforce]

Again, I find myself agreeing with Jolyon Palmer... I think that's twice now :)

Indeed.

I think the black and white flag might be more fair if it is shown for an infringement that impeded an overtaking driver within a very short time and instructs the impeding driver has to give up the place (or the impeding gets a time penalty if for some reason that's not possible - a large time penalty if they prevaricate before giving the place).

The black and white flag was just about justifiable imo and only because drivers and Liberty/FIA/FOM wanted harder racing and more decisions to be taken on the track and during the race rather than after it. A few months ago it would have been a penalty. Lewis did state that he now knows what they can get away with - let's see if he does the same in the future. Charles was hungry for the win and previously saw that Max did a similar move and got away with it, taking the win away from him. Of course Lewis doesn't need to take so many risks, just keep scoring points and the championship is his.

I have been asked if I know how/where to get/buy VIP tickets to F1 races. I replied that don't, but I will try to find-out.... does anyone know where to go, or are these Unicorns?

Got to be worth a tenner on RB this weekend?

Hoping a good handful of points for McLaren too.

There was always rumours about Kubica not getting the best / latest parts for his car and Williams favouring british young talent George Russell, despite Kubica bringing a ton of sponsorship money - i dont know if that is true, but as a big Williams supporter back in the day, i've grown really disenchanted with the entire team for the past few years and also since the documentary about Frank Williams himself - IMHO -- i really dont think Clair is up to the job.... for the sake of the Team and the legacy she should move aside - i think Frank is still pulling the strings behind her....

RB do well at this circuit, Lewis has a pretty good record there too.

Looks like the end of the road for Robert Kubica at Williams.
A great shame it didn't work out for a very likeable and talented driver.
Robert Kubica to leave Williams at end of 2019 season

From what he said, it was his choice to leave but it sounds like he is leaving in hope to get a drive elsewhere and not to retire. Can't see any seats available for his next season nor in the future unfortunately.

Grosjean has also surprisingly been confirmed for next season with Haas which leaves The Hulk with only Alfa as a realistic option.

“Grosjean has also surprisingly been confirmed for next season with Haas” .... its rumoured this is linked to a new French sponsor ...

Alfa or Williams would seem to be the Hulk’s only options now ...

Hulk is between a rock and a hard place IMO. He doesn't want to be at the back of the grid but if he leaves the he may not get a seat again. Alfa probably would like a Ferrari Junior and Mick Schuey may be next in line but I don't think he's ready yet. Hulk would/should get them some good points.
