The introduction of low profile tyres might change how drivers treat kerbs. Sausages and sawtooth edges won't be sidewall friendly.
Not sure that it will change that much. GT, Sports Prototype and Touring cars have been on 18" for decades and they are not exactly kerb averse
What is will do is to allow a much less movement in the tyre and more in the suspension to give a stable aero platform. More compliance in the suspension should give more mechanical grip at lower speeds which will enable them to act as more traditional racing cars rather than aerodynamic projectiles.
