Faster Speed Limits for Trucks?

It's not that the wagons do 40 mph (as most don't) but the buggers run so close together that on an nsl road you struggle to get past 2 of them safely. They are rarely alone !

I cover 34k miles per annum across the north and Scotland including the a69 and a1 which are a nightmare

Add the A96 to the above and I'm in full agreement.

The only way I'll sanction them travelling faster is if they are equipped to apply automatically their brakes some considerable time before my rear view mirrors are full of their grille and nothing else.

If episodes of "Eddie Stobart: Trucks & Trailers" are going to be shorter because they get to their destination sooner, this proposal has my support.

The biggest issue is the calibration and limit variances that allow trucks to continually slip stream and overtake each other. Cut that out and we would have a much safer and less congested motorway system.

The worlds longest overtaking maneuvers will now take place at higher speeds.

And take even longer

The sensible answer to this would be a push-to-pass system where drivers can override the limiter once or twice an hour to make a pass

Amazing how the "voice over" guy tries to make the M6 sound like Ice Road Truckers. That puts me off more than anything.

That Biomass trailer thing. It loads itself, unloads itself and the driver has to pull on a rope to cover the top of the trailer. How hard is this - come on.
