Help! Please! I'm at a loss with my brake lights. I've got the following error messages on my display:-
1.Brake lamp, left.
2.Brake lamp left , backup bulb on.
3.Brake lamp right , backup bulb on.
The car is currently using it's back up brake lights (which I think is probably the fog lights) plus the 3rd high level LED. I've checked both bulbs (left and right) and they were fine though I replaced them anyway to be on the safe side but obviously made no difference.
Have checked the fuse list but there doesn't seem to be a fuse listed for the brake lights. Might it be a relay failure?
I've been driving like this for several months now but MoT is due in a few days so I'm getting desperate. Anybody got any ideas? Oh, sorry, car is a 2006 ML 320 CDi (W164, I think - correct me if I'm wrong)
Thanks in advance!

I've been driving the car like this for several months now but it's due Mot in. Few days and I'm trying to avoid the inevitably hefty garage bill.

Any thoughts anyone?

(Car is ML320 CDI SE 2006)

Is that likely to be expensive and is it a dealer repair or just a plug in item?

Do you mean the contacts at the back of the bulb? No, I haven't but I know they're fairly tight. Should have said though that both lights failed at the same time so I'd guess it's unlikely to be that. Thanks though, all offers gratefully received.

I have exactly the same problem, both failed at same time, changed bulbs etc. Have you found out what the problem is yet?
Thanks

Known fault - you need 2 x Repair Kits MA164 826 00 07 £9.60 each

Hi DM, where is the SAM, what is the SAM related too? On the E.
Cannot find it?
Cheers.
