Car
Mercedes C200 stunning condition Rare Red 1999
Whats your favourite car ever owned ,Had many cars mainly Ford Granadas but the car that sticks out for me was my 1980 Triumph Dolomite Sprint ,Was very bright yellow and Mint condition only being approx 3 yrs old when i got it .So advanced in its day lovely to drive and very quick was met with admiring glances wherever it went - Can the Mercedes C200 ever take its place as my fav ever ? I hope so.

Oooh they were great fun! Yellow would have looked the biz too. I had a bright red TR7 at one point with only 8 valves and an SOHC but in it's day (old when I bought it) great fun.

My fav was without doubt my 1993 750i that car was a real eye opener got valet parked at the Hilton frequently could cruise at over a tonne and then pull like a freight train when I had her abroad, and return an amazing 25mpg (well it was a 5.0 V12 afterall)
In my life if I could have one car back again it is this one.

sadly it was written off by the guy I sold it to, weeks after he bought it! I did weep, I admit it.

This c class wagon. Sounds dull but for what I do it's superb. It would have been my old E320 if it didn't break down, rust or have jerky gear changes.

Has to be between my old E55 AMG and Range Rover, both had severe drink problems but were great cars.

I also had a yellow Dolly Sprint with Black Vinyl Roof. It was the mutts !
Took a mate of mine out in it and he went straight out and bought one ! His was a more subtle Blue.

Nice to see some other Triumph fans on here!

My favorite all time has to be the one I have now!

First saw it in 1990 when I was 18 in an old copy of "Motor" magazine dated Nov 1973. Prototype Triumph Stag Estate built by Atlantic Garages in Weston Super Mare. Drooled and vowed one day top have one............... but they only ever built 22!

Fast forward to 2010, and I finally get my hands on one.......... the original, the actual one from Motor magazine.

Now being totally restored from bare shell....... nearly finished, will be on the road by this summer I hope!

Blog of the resto @ Alan's Triumph Related Blog! if you fancy a look!

Dolomite sprint was advanced in terms of performance 0-60 8.7 secs all them years ago out of a 4 cyl 2litre 4 door saloon ,no turbo or even injection .Top speed was only 115 though.

First production 16v car, that's what gave it the kick!

16 valve head, single overhead cam......... awesome technology!

The Dolly used to give my Mk2 RS2000 a run, Boy was that advanced too,,, NOT!!! 2.0 pinto 4 speed 4 branch manifold and an alloy sump!

It's a toss up between the 1973 Fiat 124 I learned to drive with or my first brand new car, a silver 1985 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6.

I always remember the way you could hang out the back of the 124 on tight bends. You could have a lot of fun with 50 bhp and 155/60 tyres.

1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500. BRG, tan hood and interior.

Wasnt one for the purists - roll bar, cherry bombs, flametraps, fog lights, graphic equaliser and, so help me God, a musical air horn

Most fun (and pain) I've had with a car so far.

Have you modified the cooling system on the Engine?
Apparently the standard set up is not up to the job of cooling Triumphs V8..
There are modified radiators and water pumps available..Then the Triumph engine is good..

Otherwise you might joing the Rover V8 conversion brigade..

No question (and not an MB I'm afraid, but I think I'll be forgiven).

Renault 5 GT Turbo Raider, stage 3 by Turbo Technics, 228 BHP at the wheels. 125,000 very happy miles, including twice-weekly trips the length of the legendary A686, with many a memorable tussle on the way. Despite being 6ft3in tall, also one of the most comfortable cars I've had. I bought it in my early 20s, and it's a wonder I'm still alive, frankly.

The standard car is one of Hammond's icons: Hammond's icons: Renault 5 GT Turbo - BBC Top Gear and mine looked very similar (at least outside) except for the Devil exhaust, drilled, slotted, Tarox all round, and lowered suspension. Under the bonnet, things were very different to the standard, largely to satisfy the huge cooling requirements generated by asking a 1397 cc engine to produce that much grunt!

Sadly, I have no photos to hand... Happy days. Now, if I found a really nice one for sale...

Ranger Rover fitted with a TVR engine, the longest I ever owned a car.

It's the only car I ever felt sad watching drive off with it's new owner.

Stag cooling system is marginal, but if in good condition then its just fine. But, new rad has been built with bigger core and it will have a kenlowe and oil cooler to help!

It will NEVER have an RV8 fitted though!

Honours shared between an 03 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 and a 1997 BMW 528i estate. Both had superb engines, my preference being the straight six in the 5 series, made a glorious noise as you revved it, both superb autoboxes, ride in both so comfortable. The Range Rover was a more special place to be and its sheer allround capability and comfort was astonishing. As a drivers car that all my passengers thought brilliant, the 528 wins.

After that, Porsche Boxster, with my E500 estate tied with my W124 E320 estate in joint fourth.

My E320 coupe. Like it so much that I had it twin turbo'd and re sprayed to sort those niggling bits of rust. Now it only goes out when I know it can be parked safely.

Mine would have to be the 1995 Jag XJR that I had for a while.

It had the bulletproof 6 cylinder AJ16 engine supercharged up to about 325 hp.

It was a big, comfortable rocketship!!

5th place 335i sport touring.
Fastest car I have had as it was tuned, best 0-60mpg sprint time was 4.5 seconds. Not bad for a dog carrier.
But the turbo got a bit boring, if it had been a 330i NA sport touring it may have moved up to 3rd.

4th place 123d M-Sport.
Just did everything so well, really usable space, 45mpg all day long. Tuned and was plenty quick enough at around 6.3 seconds to 60mph.

3rd place 530i sport touring (e39).
Just such a good all round package, sublime engine, sublime comfort, sublime handling, all in a practical estate.

2nd Place BMW M3 CSL.
OMG that noise!!
The induction noise is just so addictive.
There is something very special about the CSL, I nearly bought a 996 911, but someone local had a CSL advertised, and it blew me away and made the Porsche feel a bit muted.
The go kart like handling, the occasion everytime you went anywhere in it, and the fact you could also spend 8 hours in there in complete comfort made it the perfect all round sports car.

1st place S211 E320 cdi Avantgarde estate. Brabus Tuned to 265bhp.
As quick as you ever really need, divinely comfortable, fabulous build, lovely cabin, handled adequately, and would do 45mpg on a run.
I can't think of car another that gets so much so right, I had an A6 Quattro 3.2 before the E Class, a 535d sport touring before that, and the E Class just did it all better than the rest.
Swapped for an E350 S212, doesn't even get in my top 10, which just shows how much I loved the S211.
