I'm moving some "documents" from desktop to laptop via network.
To suit my needs on the laptop, I've opened the files on the laptop, using the same image editing program that the files were created in on the desktop.
The program is Micrografx Photo Magic (it came with my scanner years ago)
I've carried out similar operations in the past without problem.
The laptop hard disc is 71.9gb & is reporting 48.0gb free.
My documents folder is reporting a size of 413mb
The folder in My Documents which I am tryiing to save to is reporting a size of 83.5mb
I've been saving the files as .tif images and then saving again as .pdf ready to prepare a zip file to e-mail.
So far I've saved 10 .tif files & 8 .pdf files. I've got to save a further 3 .tifs & 5 .pdfs.

However, when I try to save now I'm getting an error message:-
Cannot write file 'c:\Documents and settings\xxxx\My Documents\xxxxxx\xxxxxxx.tif', you are out of disk space.
I've tried shutting other programs - no change
I've tried restarting - no change

Any ideas?

edit - Ive just tried saving a word doc to the same folder - no problem - but still can't save the .tif files

How big are the files you've saved?

Is that 83.5Mb all 18 files - even zipped you might have trouble e-mailing somehting that big!

Caught me in the middle of another restart!
Some images are colour, some are grey, some are bw
.tif files are typically 25.5mb colour, 8.5mb grey & 1.05mb bw
.pdf files are all around 1mb

edit - after a couple of program crashes, & a couple of restarts, files now saved!

only e-mailing the pdfs 13 files around 1mb each:)

Have you deleted the.tif files after converting to .pdf's?

Via network... your profile has a limited workspace area???
You need to ask the network manager to give yo umore space maybe??

Yeah, is it a corporate build with roaming profiles or a non local My Documents folder on a file server or something? Maybe using offline folder sync?

If so, its possible you have storage limits set elsewhere.

No, ineed the originals on the laptop, the pdf's are to send to someone else. PDF's cant be edited tike the tifs or jpegs

I think it is just an incompatibility issue with old software & XP.

The e-mails were to send to someone else 20 miles away - not on my home network!

See post at 8.57 yesterday - problem cured itself after several restarts.
