Firmware Update via Mercedes Star

Hi,

I put my 2006 Mercedes S320CDi into Mercedes dealer and paid to have the engine and gearbox software updated. I have since got Star and have looked at the software that is installed and am not convinced it will be the latest version. Can anyone confirm?

What benefits would you see from getting the firmware updated? What sort of money is the upgrade?
