Hi all,
I've just had my CLS at Mercedes, having now owned it for just over 2 months. There were two issues picked up which I would appreciate advice on.
COMAND UPDATE NEEDED - When I put the car in, I asked about map upgrades and was called back that afternoon and told that the car would need an update to the software and then map updates could be installed and it would be about £150 which seemed to tally with what I'd read on t'internet. However, when collecting the car, I was served by someone else who, upon going through the inspection sheet with me, said there was a recommended update costing £64.32 which read 'COMAND REQUIRES UPDATE'. She said it should include map upgrade but she didn't sound too sure so I'm a bit sceptical.
My question is, is there a COMAND update which doesn't include maps, and if so, what else is then updated?
REVERSE GEAR DELAYED - this was the second not on the sheet. I had noticed that there was a slight delay (a second or 2) after changing into reverse for the gear to actually engage but didn't really pay much attention until it was pointed out. If the technician pointed it out, then I'm thinking that it's not designed to delay! I got a call back earlier today regarding this and they suggested it would improve with a software update for around £80.
Does this sound like a software issue? I've read on quite a few forums about people complaining that transmissions which were in for apparently minor issues were made much worse by MB dealers. I would appreciate the delay gone but dont want to make an annoying niggle into a black hole for my cash, so anyone with a similar experience able to comment would be great.
Finally, anyone on here in/around London able to this cheaper?![Big Grin :D :D](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png)
Thanks
