First snag.

Car 2, O'Reilly 0. OK, had another go. The only thing I could see that looked like it might, MIGHT have been the CPS was so buried I couldn't even get my small hands in to do anything with it, let alone get a socket on it. And even if I had, I'm sure that I would have ended up dropping the bolt/socket/sensor/all 3 into the dark depths below, never to be seen again.

No, looks like I'll be leaving it to a pro, which is what I should have done in the 1st place.

Never mind. I'm quite looking forward to a quiet weekend by the sea.

OK, anxious drive coming up tomorrow. I have to limp the car up to PCS, about 18 miles. Who knows how many "goes" it might take me. I'm just hoping that it doesn't cut out on some really busy round-a-bout. I don't have to be there until 1600 but I'll be leaving just after dinner, just in case.

Hopefully it will be sorted and I can head up north Wed morning, stopping off at Louth to check on my Renault 760.

Fingers crossed,

LG.

Pou de sable? I have a friend in Perth WA. with one that regularly undertakes 2,000mile round trips and another with a Dauphine Gordini motor.

Un quatre chevaux, but an early British one, hence the "760" title. 1949, putting out 17hp, (hopefully!) Full marks to your friend doing 2000 mile trips in one, but maybe he has a later, 21hp version. Or maybe even a "sport", with a heady output up in the 40s.

On slightly more powerful things, my CLK is all done. I was expected up at PCS at 1600 but thought I'd better leave early, thinking that I might be spending quite a bit of time sitting by the side of the road with the bonnet up.

So, I left about 1315, and, of course, after a somewhat nervy drive, I got up there without any problems at all. I had taken my bike and a book to pass the time but they got on with it straight away and, thankfully, didn't encounter any issues. So full marks and a big thank you to the guys up there.

Straight after breakfast tomorrow I'll be setting off to give it a thorough "test run".

Up and back, car perfect. That's more like it. Pretty miserable drive up in the pouring rain though but a nice drive back on Sunday. Next planned trip in 3 or 4 weeks time.

Plugs, coolant and brake fluid are all due a change based on time. I could bite the bullet and do them all in one hit but I'd like to spread the cost so, with a long, hot summer just around the corner, I'm thinking of starting with a cooling system flush/stat and water pump.

If the engine is running at the right temperature then save yourself the cost and bother of stat and pump. If it ain't broke, something else will be soon and you will need the money for that. Coolant and brake fluid are not dear and are both worth doing.

It sits at, or one notch above 80. It'll be getting done up at PCS so I'll see what they say up there. I said that it was a miserable drive up in the rain, but at least it made a nice change, (for me,) to be in a car with wipers that did a good job and didn't drive me nuts with the noise they made.
