Hi all, the good lady went out to start the car this morning and nothing.
So i took the battery cover off and it jump started straight away, no problems.

Whilst looking at the battery this evening to get the spec to buy a new one i noticed a small fan running, it is behind where the battery sits, (passenger bukhead) it looks like a heater type fan, about 4/5 inches and only visible with battery cover off and spinning quite fast, the car has been switched off and locked for 15 mins but its still going.

Can anyone please confirm what this fan is and surely it still shouldnt be running for so long?

Really dont want the expense of a new battery if its not at fault.

Many thanks in advance.

Bit of an update, it is the heater fan, when i turn the heating system off the fan stops and a flap comes down.
Ive started and switched off the car half a dozen times and the fan stops ok.
It seems something had stuck which caused the fan to run on but any ideas what?

If your car has a similar heating system to my clk (W209 52 plate) it has the ability to keep the heating running after you switch off. I think its called aux heating or something. Normally though you have to select it by pressing the Rest (aircon?) button after you switch off the ignition. I think it runs for about 15 mins. Should be some info on it in your manual.

Hmm interesting , i dont think i have that feature but ill double check.
Unfortunately i dont have a handbook to check but i might see if i can find one online

Thanks.
