Flat Bonnet Badge

When I get the chance (prolly next week), I'll nip to the dealers and buy one. I won't need a VIN will I?
You probably won't need a VIN. Just say that yours is damaged and that's the part number on the back of it! :)

Don't expect it to be in stock mind!

I'll order a badge in the morning, and then try it on various bonnets to see what it fits just to be sure that it does fit what we think it does...

The only bonnet I don't have is a facelift 124, but if it fits a 202 it will fit as well.

I went to a stealership and attempted to remove the star from the bonnet of a brand new W204 with sport kit. Needless to say I attracted some attention but I did manage to see how it is mounted and fitted!

Basically it's a standard recess and hole for a normal upright bonnet ornament and the flat badge sits on top of a plastic fitting kit which clips into the underside of the recess with a couple of clamps held apart with a spring. This appears CHEAP compared to the metal fitment of the traditional upright ornament.

As I lifted the badge away from the bonnet I notice it had taken a semi-circular shape of paint off the bonnet where the edge of the badge sits against it!

The badge is £10.64 exclusive of VAT.

Okay for clarification what part number of flat badge fits the 124/202/203/208/210/211?

As well as the badge part number does anyone know the part numbers of the fitting kit? (as shude mentions above)

My W204 bonnet badge arrived in the post this morning.
The mount is exactly as described with the spring & two plastic pieces that move.
The badge itself is metalized & painted plastic.

As soon as it stops raining I am going outside to see how it fits.
Fitment photos to follow:)

There is the small gap at the front of the badge (not really that noticable) but I'm going to leave it on for now & see how it goes.

So... where can we get this for £12? I checked a couple of places for the part numbers mentioned above but its about £22?

this comes just in time :

guys,
Well i thought that i had been fortunate not to have had my bonnet badge yanked of by filthy rotten toe rag Ba$tards, but noticed this morning thet it was missing and in its place a few scratches and marks.

I have had the c class for 8 yrs now and this is the first time that this has happened.

I dont understand what the litttle $hits get from doing this as its totally useless to anyone......... just shows the type of society we are livining in.

more to the point now where do i get one from are the stealers the best place or do i replace it with a flat style one?

Thanks,

Raj

Yes, the dealer is the best place. They recently went up to £25 plus VAT, but you'll pay more than that on Ebay.

As to the flat badge, as you will see from this thread, I'm not sure we have a definitive answer for what part number you need.

will pop in this weekend, they should have these in stock...
as for the part number for the flat one its:
A204 817 0616 - £12.51 exc

quantum has fitted one to his c class looks rather nice, but i like the way the light hits the star at night when your driving it, and during the day i like seeing the upright badge.

But to avoid this again i would consider the flat one

W204 OEM Flat bonnet ornament now fitted!

Dead easy to fit, clicks into place with probably less than a 1mm gap at the front, the rest is totally flush. Looks good, better that the ghetto flat badge from the G-Wagen I created a HOWTO for almost exactly 4 years ago!
