Folding rear seats

Does anyone know if the CL500 W216 ever had folding rear seats? BMW have folding rear seats as an option on the 3 series coupe, comes in very useful if you need to carry golf gear and cases.

I'm surprised the CL boot isn't big enough for golf bags?

Normally yes, no problem for one. When pals ask if you could take them in your car then more room would be welcome.

BM coupes have always had folding seats as standard which often makes them more practical than the saloons which don't always have them as an option even and used versions are very rare, Mercedes don't play the same game unfortunately.

Don't know about a W216 but the W215 has its fuel tank standing vertically behind, and running the length of, the rear seat so it would be impossible to have folding seats in it.

If the optional ski access or rear fridge is specified, a different shaped tank is fitted which has a dip in the middle.
