Formula 1 2020 (Will Contain Race Day Spoilers)

Midfield is even closer this year, which is good. Mercedes did well after their worries last week, Ferrari just seem to be going backwards. It was a bad mistake from LeClerc and all the hard work the team did to bring upgrades to this race went down the drain. they really needed to see how the car was over a race distance. If they continue, Binotto could well be out of a job next year.

Max is keeping Red Bull respectable, Albon is in fear of losing his seat next year if he continues at this pace. Nearly every other team has both drivers running at similar pace so Albon needs to get his act together.

Lando is definitely a star of the future

Binotto can only do so much. Stupid mistakes on track from the drivers is out of his control. Re-engineering a flawed aero package and/or under performing powertrain is also not something he can personally do much about.

I agree, but we all know how brutal Ferrari are. Arrivabene was replaced even though he steered them back to their winning ways but didn't finish the job. Binotto's team has gone backwards and yes it's down to the engineers who ultimately make the car but the buck always stops with the team principal.

To be honest, I think that the engineers in Ferrari are hampered by internal politics. In other words, there appears to be a lack of cohesiveness or clarity of purpose between the various departments. They are also carrying the weight of the brand. Ferrari seem to be of the opinion that F1 needs Ferrari when in fact Ferrari really needs F1. Their business is toast without it.

For some reason, Renault have decided to formally lodge a protest against Racing Point. I can't see the point (sorry) really as it was already deemed legal. Similar scenario to Red Bull complaining about DAS.

Unless Renault think they've found something which wasn't addressed in the earlier judgement.

Never in doubt after the first corner. Superb drive from Lewis and the last lap from Lando was a cracker too.
I can see Mercedes and Ferrari sniffing around Lando Norris in a year or two if he continues his progress with McLaren.
They would be wise to tie him down to a long contract.

Ferrari are self destructing and felt a bit for Seb today. Totally innocent in the shambles that put out both cars. Leclerc did the only thing possible and held his hand up and apologised, but top drivers shouldn't be taking out other drivers with moves like that, let alone his team mate.

Contrast with McLaren - apart from a pitstop fumble with Sainz - sorted out getting the drivers swapped on the track at the end to maximise their points - and sorted out CS who then got fastest lap. That's a T E A M.

(And using the Renault engine).

I must say, I'm a little disappointed that Carlos is off to Ferrari. He and Lando are a very strong driver pairing and work together very well.

It hasn't been dismissed and is being looked into 'properly'. Looks like they have focused on the brake ducts as they have been taken away by the FIA and they have also asked Mercedes for their brake ducts from the W10

Interesting.

Sky Germany are reporting Vettel has an offer from Aston Martin for 2021, which if true would mean the end of Perez's long stint at Force India/RP

And another source are saying that Perez would be welcome at Haas.
I don't think either Grojean or Magnusson would be missed considering their results at Haas or previous teams.

If Aston Martin wanted the best for their team, they would take the best drivers available ie Vettel and Perez. Unfortunately, daddy won't oust his own son and one of the reasons he (Stroll) bought the team was probably to ensure his son gets a seat.

Haas has kept their driver's consistent but have gone backwards. They were towards the front of the midfield but have slowly gone towards the back. They do need a shake up and Perez could be the man to help change things. Any bets on who would lose their seat out of MAG and GRO?

That probably depends on who brings most sponsorship to the team.
I think you could toss a coin as they are both as average as one another. Perez is a step up in quality over both IMO.
Yep at least as quick and smarter than either of them. Kevin gets too aggressive and runs into people, Roman's brain runs out of bandwidth and he then makes mistakes.

On the subject of Racing Point and their drivers, I have to admit that Stroll is showing signs of becoming a decent driver. I had him down as just a Daddy's boy in a seat because of his fathers money, not his talent. But he deserves to be there and I don't mind admitting being wrong about him. There is very little to choose between Stroll and Perez on the timing sheets.
