.....i found this spring inside my airfilter box under the air filter, the battery is to show size of spring, any ideas what it's off.

Not impossible it was thrown up from the road and sucked in, it may be nothing to do with the car, just the filter doing it's job of stopping Foreign objects entering.

looks like the sorta spring used to hold rear brake shoe's on!

abit like these!

i thought that might the case, but the spring was under the filter, if it had been sucked in would the spring lie on top of the filter.

Maybe it's the spring that holds the whole engine in..............:ban:

It does not look MB that spring. It would aslo be under the filter not on top if it was sucked in.

Ummmm, but Olly, can you confirm it's the engine holding in spring?

must have got there when filter was changed, - mechanic unclips filter housing - takes out old filter and puts on workbench - picks up box containing new filter- opens box- puts new filter on workbench and puts old filter in box to throw away [ and meantime spring which was on workbench gets caught in paper flaps of new filter unseen by mechanic ]- mechanic fits new filter
MY GOD Holmes how did you work that out
elementary my dear Watson :thumb:

That is true of most mechanics, but i fitted the filter last year. i hovered out the dust and leaves before fitting the new filter. it's got me baffled.

damn there goes the theory but I'm not giving up
spring was stuck in hoover nozel and when you clattered it around the filter box it fell out and didn't get sucked back up again and you didn't see it. its all your fault

Do you think it was made that shape or has it been bent a bit Wonky ? ( for example, it's all your fault )
