'99 S210 E320CDI A/garde - gone to a better place.. Now '09 S211 E320CDI Sport.
Picked her up on Thursday - delighted. Looks fantastic under artificial lights but I find silver doesn't do the detailer's work justice in daylight. Here are pics both indoors and out.
All I have to do now is keep her clean! Went for a ceramic coat so cleaning duties may be easier..time will tell. My main issue is the hardness of our water - I often cheat and wash the cars when its raining, but I'm seriously thinking about a water filter for the final rinse stage. The house has a water softener but I don't know if its advisable to use water from that?IMG_8651.jpeg IMG_8654.jpeg IMG_8660.jpeg Jul '19 (1).jpg Jul '19 (2).jpg Jul '19 (3).jpg Jul '19 (5).jpg Jul '19 (7).jpg

Looks superb, I liked it on TK's instagram feed but didn't realise it was someone from here.

I'd suggest a specific filter that you can leave in the garage, but it would be interesting to see how good the home softener is by way of using a TDS meter.

The Aquagleam inline filters are ok but don't last very long when used for final rinsing when car washing.
This one is more expensive but is the best I've used, I've been getting 50-60 rinses from it before the bag insert needs replacing -
Pure Final Rinse Single Bag Vessel

cheers,

Chris

24 VRT , that's one sweet motor! :D
Thanks - I think the S211 is timeless, particularly in Sport spec and I'm looking forward to long term ownership. I've never been one to tie up lots of capital in depreciating assets, and she represented good value for money - plus no great reliability/faults concerns for this model and engine. And my indie can do all the work on her so I don't have to pay dealer rates!

Thanks Chris.
Some homework last night indicated that the house softener route probably will not work, as they are focussed on removing limescale only - unlikely to get the water down to 0ppm. I may still give it a try just to see the end result, but think I'll seriously have to consider a filter in due course.
I was looking at this one - lower initial cost and whilst resin refills are more than the Pure bags, I'd only be using the filter occasionally (say every 6 weeks if that) so not such an issue. Refillable 0ppm Water Filter (7 litre) RG-Filter-7L
Rod.

There's plenty of good knowledge on W211s on here as loads of us have owned them.

I've said before that mine needed £80 spent on unexpected bills over 7 years of my ownership.

I nearly went the route of that exact car before going for a W212 saloon, but I still love that shape and in some ways wish I'd gotten to own one! Beautiful

I've always preferred the estate - particularly useful when taking the family, their luggage and the kitchen sink on holiday. I even managed to get a 4 seat teak garden bench in the S210, although I don't think the 211's tailgate curvature would allow me to achieve that feat again.
I did look at the 212, but it has too many sharp lines and square edges for my taste - the 211 just seems a smoother, more rounded body (an excellent progression of the 210) and the sport spec is the icing on the cake particularly those lovely alloys.
Cheers.
