Just had a service done at dealer. They recommended that the fuel gauge sensor should be replaced - parts quoted as the sender unit and flange coming to about £13, but labour cost was over £100

I didn't have time to wait so decided not get it done. Is this a reasonable cost - does it take a hour labour? what would an good indy charge? Guessing that this isn't a DIY job if 'fuel' is involved?

Car is a 97 c280 sport

the MB quote states the following:

2x Sender Unit at £5.22 each, 1x Flange Fuel Sen £8.95

Anyone had this done?

I think he pulled it apart and just changed the seals and ring flange. Either that or he lost a load money.

i assume the following are the part numbers:

MA1264502017 - sender unit
MA2024711321 - flange

Nothing has been changed yet, as wanted to check what the forum thinks.

The sensor p/n is wrong.
The ones for your car are:

A2024703941
A2084701041

They are £70+ and £92+ each.
