OK . First set of results:

4 runs 0-60 leaving out the best and the worst and averaging the other two

0-60 = 8.45secs (Whatcar measured 10sec on their car;))

1/4 mile 1 run only so far

1/4 mile in 16.7 sec, terminal speed at 1/4 mile 70.6sec

More tomorrow when I get more time to play. Grav you around tomorrow?

I'm back from my weeks runs up and down the country now:bannana:

R2: is your one measured value stock or with mods? If it's with mods you should really label it as such.

After tuning. I'm still doing the maths bit for bhp runs and trying to find a suitable bit of run to test max hp.

My neighbour is in the Seychelles at the moment, but said we could use a farm access road when he gets back:bannana: :bannana:

thats the ideal GTG then dont you think.

I always thought that the sliproad from a motorway services would be a good place to try 0-60, 0-100 type runs, especially if it's a quiet night. I know it sounds awful but if you're only going to touch 100mph and then lift-off and drop back down to 70 again then I suppose there is no harm done...

OK we are back from our Private test track.

My car first:

My car with me and fuel weighs 3478lbs or 1581 kg. Grav and I witnessed 160bhp at the wheels which allowing 22% losses = 205BHP. my 0-60 time fell to 8.2 secs

Gravs car weighs 3762 lbs

We did 4 proper 0-60 on a level surface and got a best of 5.47secs!

The standing 1/4 mile was dealt with in 14.5 secs and a terminal velocity of 102.1mph.

Cheers Grav. Hope you had fun!

Sure did. I have the marks to prove it:crazy:
Thanks for the chance to try it out.
Awesome piece of kit.

So, What was Grav's HP?

I think there are too many errors in the American table you posted. You'll soon have enough readings to produce your own anyway.

surprised that an E55 is only 10% more heavy a C180K

Well we took the unladen weight from Gravs handbook and allowed for fuel.
Remember my newer car has airbags everywhere!

Re Max bhp. Once you know the weight you can calculate the accurate bhp as we did with mine. The problem is that max bhp usually happens at about 6000rpm in 4th gear. Testing my car to that point is bad enough, testing Gravs car to that point is err difficult;) I can tell you Gravs car has at least 330bhp but I cant tell you how much more because our test track wasnt long enough.

BHP figures from the unit are fairly inaccurate so I would stay away from quoting them verbatim - especially assuming drivetrain losses. Quite surprised Grav's car only made 1/4 mile in 14.5s with a low 0-60 - a standard 500 posts the same 1/4 mile time.

BHP are as accurate as the weight figure. The rest is just maths. Mass, Accelaration, Time, power required to move that mass. The unit claims +/-1bhp. Given I've already dynoed my car the figures make sense.

Gravs figures need to be taken in the context that he had 50 large magnets in his boot at the time of the test............no dont ask!:D

Given the nature of the testing and the road required. Grav and I agree that it would be imprudent to arrange a GTG for G tech testing. I will however, either rent it out for a nominal amount and a confirmed address to send it to or sell it if someone makes a decent offer. I know all I need to know about my car.

The unladen figure includes the driver at 65kg

That'd be Sabine I expect (the German girl who's a Nurburgring expert)! :D
