I would appreciate recommendations on garage floor paint/resin, it will be going onto new concrete.

Thanks

Paul

I'd ask Olly from PCS I know he has painted his workshop floor and it has always looked great at his annual GTG

Did mine about 5 yrs back, cant remember exactly the product but off the shelve from B&Q. Still looks as good could do with another freshen up coat but 1000% worth doing.

Agree, off the shelf at B&Q. painted my garage years ago, much dryer now.

Just a thought……….tiles and mats don't need re-coating periodically, just brushed or mopped.

What you can do, is PVA/water mix, washed over the floor, that seals all the dust, and put rubber tiles over the floor, I have done this and used old carpet over the top, very easy on the knees

Alternatively get the wife to cover the entire floor with totally useless and never to be used junk so you'll never see the floor again

That's more my department than hers :-)

So for epoxy resin you acid etch and the same for garage paint or just pva bare concrete. Am I right in assuming that the epoxy resin solution will leave a smoother finish? Although it will have a car in it it the garage will also have 1 tonne pallets stored there from time to time hence the desire to have a durable finish.

Thanks

No, if your going to paint, acid etch then paint, only pva to seal the concrete if you are NOT going to paint

All depends on the paint your using in the first place. All the directions on the tin only said dust free for preparation.2 coats 8 years later all is good.

Acid wash the concrete floor first, then the paint will take like glue, DO NOT seal the concrete first as the paint will lift when driven over

Sounds plausible, but do you still use concrete hardener to bind the upper surface?

I did my floor when I moved into my then brand new house in 1994. I brushed the worst of the dust off and painted it with bog standard cheap floor paint( two coats) from my local independent DIY store (now sadly closed-sort of place you could buy 1 screw if you wanted and wood was cut to size and you only paid for what you needed-sigh) It is still in good condition and I do a lot of car maintainence in the garage- I just put wooden planks down to jack up on.

I see you have a Sunbeam Stiletto:thumb: What colour?

Red (mostly! I have a bit of paint to do where i had a couple of sections let in the front wheel arches. )

Black vinyl roof and twin headlamps as opposed to the singles on the Imp or am I talking twaddle?
