Garage: How tight is your fit?

Wish I HAD a garage, it would shave hundreds off my insurance.
My dad has bits of foam padding taped to the sides of his garage to avoid clipping his mirrors, but then he has about 1 inch clearance on his Honda Jazz.

where are you getting the garage from? Im looking at something similar at work as a valeting bay/ extra workshop...

Thanks

I am using Cyclone Steel Buildings (http://www.cyclonesteelbuildings.com/ )who are part of the Capital Steel Building network. I was looking at a delivered cost of just under 5k plus vat for a 9m x 6m building, 3 roller doors, 1 access door, 6 skylight panels, plus full anti-condensation sheeting. Obviously a base is extra plus either DIY erection or around 1k cost to build.

Jim

All three cars fit nicely into my tripple garage and the doors are 8FT wide and the depth of the garage is very deep and I am easily able to wax/polish all the cars with loads of spare space with them all parked inside.

Flash Flash :D

I was hoping for something similar(ish) to start with. I actually have a 5 acre garden so you would imagine that finding somewhere to stick a big garage would be easy but its not. There is a fairly natural place to put it and unfortunately space is tight(ish) there. :o

Hard to argue with those figures.. A bit like Ikea, its probably cheaper to buy flat pack than building it in block with a trussed roof....

I'm surprised taht Bill finds driving into a garage is easier as reversing gives us a much better view of clearance, but only if the mirrors are adjusted properly.

If we are unsure of gaps distances then don't be afraid to improvise. On one of our garages I used to have a piece of string dangling from the ceiling so when that touched the glass the bumper was a very short distance from th wall. You could set up any type of gadget that coulkd give warning for the sides. Don't forget to put some protection on the wall where the car's door will open :o :o

Doesn't everyone have three garages :)

Good luck

John

Pah... you can see the house from the end of that drive!!

Only kidding. Looks very smart indeed. Living space above the garage would be a bit "fantasy meets reality" for me tho :)

Could do with your former Ferrari on my drive! - I love the F355.

I have no choice but to reverse in,, but going in this way you can guarantee to get the car close to the wall on the near side and never do any damage, what ever you do, unless you have a drive through garage you are going to have to reverse one way

Like Robert said, that house looks to be amazing. Shame we don't have "Green with envy" smileys. :D

Bit of an update:
Oh well.... hope I got all the measurements right
Its been entertaining so far. 45 tons of excavation, ground level lowered by 1m so I dont pi$$ off the neighbour. We have uncovered 3 drains which weren't on the plans, one water main which should have been 10 meters somewhere else, and a big bunch of BT stuff which looks like it is important!! So far... so good.

Walls and roof on order. :D

I have a couple of planning "issues" to tiptoe around at the mo since the garage where they all live at the mo is converting into a games room so this is the state of play for a couple of weeks.
