My father inlaw has recently bought himself a merc e240 auto estate has had it now fow about 2/3 months and has recently been having gear box problems. Three days ago he was coming back from work and the car was working fine till about 5 mins from home and he lost all drive and after stopping and turning of the car she started again and drove for a short while till she gave out totally. After a generous push by the local bobbies the garage looked at her and flushed out the oil in the box and changed the seals. We were told to take her back in a week to be sure the seals held but yesterday he pulled out from his fathers and there was no drive at all. An RAC mechanic came out attempted to drive her and she worked but once my father inlaw got back into the car there was no drive again and has stayed the same since. Does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong and how to get it fixed? Cheers. Tom.
