Gearbox clicking

Hello recently bought a 2002 w203 C200K estate to replace my w202 c180. its a great car but its developed a clicking noise from around the gearbox. i have done a bit of research and a few people say it could be a handbrake cable fault that that is rubbing on the prop ? has anyone heard or had this fault ? is it common ? anything else it could be ?

Likely to be a small clip that supports the handbrake cable. Yes it's a common fault & easily fixed

Good news it was just the clip and the handbrake cable was running on the prop.
