Hi all,
Driving to work today I experienced a loss of power. Like the car had gone into Limp mode*. This also happened a few weeks ago as I was overtaking a lorry (up a hill). On that occasion, I limped to work, turned the engine off/on and the problem was gone.
* the effect is a lag after you put yout foot on the throttle, and then the power is released much more slowly than usual.
Today, in similar circumstances (overtaking) the same issue arose twice.
1st time - I turned engine off at roundabout and restarted it, problem gone
2nd time the engine/transmission light came on and after limiping to work tried turning it off/on but the light and problem remained.
I managed to get booked in to the non-Merc garage round the corner from work at lunch time and limped it in for a diagniostic.
These were the resulting codes:
P20DD - B37 (Accelerator Pedal Sensor)
P2600 - Circuit 87 Voltage Too Low
P2314 - CAN Communication N23 9Electronic Ignition)
P2316 - CAN Communication A1 (Instrument Cluster) Faulty
Conclusion was 'Accelerator throttle sensor' needs replacing - but the mechanic says he was unsure if this really was the case based on my description, and the fact that the parts person his assistant spoke to reckoned there wasn't a replacement part. We agreed I'd post online and see what the feedback was.
He cleared out the error codes and we went for a drive to see if they'd come up again but nothing did-it drove without fault.
Is the problem as abovious as a throttle sensor? Any thoughts as to what this might cost to fix?

Thanks,

Andy

I just found this post looking for another problem. Can I suggest you get a glycol test done on your gearbox. Your car is showing the same symptoms as mine did, it went into an indie garage who diagnosed the electrical plate at the problem but it turned out the gearbox oil had been contaminated by water/antifreeze from the radiator. The bill to fix was 2k as I needed a gearbox re-build and a new radiator. Apparently this is a common problem on 2003 clk's.

I don't know where your based but try and find a reputable auto gearbox specialist you can take the car to. A glycol test will cost about £20 and will let you know one way or another.

You really need to get the car into a proper MB Indie who can get the car on STAR diagnostic.

The ATF/Coolant problem happened on early 2000's cars up to about 2004 fitted with auto boxes and Valeo rads, namely C's/E's/CLK's etc

Does the engine exhibit any other new symptoms such as a whooshing or buzzing sound when you put your foot down, or jam in gear? I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a split vacuum hose between one of the turbos and engine. £120 (!) replacement hose sorted the problem which threw up some totally erroneous fault codes including gearbox faults....there weren't any. Car performed as normal once hose was replaced.

This will be the throttle pedal fault. I seem to be getting many of them at the moment.

hi their had similar problem would nt kick down and go over 3 thou revs had a gearbox service 120 pounds and changed air flow meter cars like a dream again 270 cdi clk if thats any help took it to george fraser wembely

Hi Buddy I got the same problem for my w203.the error code is P2600 - Circuit 87 Voltage Too Low. do u think that it is a throttle pedal?

I had this problem this morning. I was driving and accidentally my smartphone fell down in between throttle pedal and brake pedal. Without realising it I continue driving and after 10 minutes, the grea started to act up.it can shift from gear 1 to gear 2
