Hello all. I live in a wee place called Pitlochry (27 miles north of Perth). I am looking for a garage or person that's good with merc's as my w209 3.2 petrol is a bit poorly. Not starting first time, knocking noise from the back, headlight washers not working and pass heated seat not working. Im also wanting to get the gearbox serviced soon. I dont feel rich so im trying to avoide the main dealer (HOW MUCH!!!!!).

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice

The nearest recommended in the MB Club's Good Garage Guide is Maxwell Conversions in Stirling (01786 446226). Such recommendations are by individual members, not by the club itself.

I know it is a bit further , but probably the BEST garage within reasonable driving distance is Merparts in Ashgrove Lane , Port Glasgow .

Paul Mazzoni , the proprietor , is technical advisor to The Mercedes-Benz Club ; both he and his brother , Stef , are highly qualified MB technicians with certificates lining the walls of their reception . They work on all MB models from 1960s to present day .

I speak only as a satisfied customer and know of many other club members who travel great distances to use their services .

The phone number is 01475 741236

T J ONeil in Glasgow get a reasonable name. Havn't used them myself since I tend to do my own servicing.http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=49599&highlight=oneil There are lots of local garages that can make a decent job of routine Mercedes servicing. :) You just need to ask around a bit. Word of mouth recommendation is best. Some "old school" mechanics really enjoy working on "quality cars" for a change and will treat your car well. The key factor is that they have the experience of the true pro and can admit to their limitations and will tell you when its necessary to let the main dealer or specialist tackle a particularly difficult problem or one requiring specialist diagnostics.
