I got those, but from what I understood too late (the only info was inside and the seller told me they would be fine) that I should get size "G" for the 225/40/18, unfortunatly those are size "I".
This is why they are on gumtree, but does anyone knows actually if they would fit the car properly? Or not at all? I was happy to get them today and this is why I like to keep them in emergency but if they are dangerous or useless there is no point.
I called Goodyear but they were close.
Thank you.

These sound interesting. Never heard of them before. Anybody tried them?

cheap indeed, the google translation said the shop is in liquidation, not sure if I like to send any money there? Might be risky...

If it's like the UK then it's the about the safest way possible to do business as you'd be dealing with the Offical Receiver. No idea if same in Germany, of course.

Just pay with a credit card anyway, if they'll take it.

Based on the info in the eby advert, then the various sizes listed against size G are all around 637-647mm overall wheel/tyre diameter and 185-225mm tyre width. Your 225/40/18s are 637.2mm diameter so size G appears to be correct as per the advert.

Size I is listed on ebay advert as 225/40/19 which is obviously another 25mm bigger in overall diameter (662.6mm). If you have been sent size I then these are NOT the correct size for your tyres, are likely to be a bit baggy and unsafe. Seller should replace with the correct ones, or refund your money and pay return postage. If not file a complaint, why should you have to sell them on when its the sellers mistake?

I know they aren't quite the same as snowsocks but i have a set of nylon tyre storage bags which are effectively the same concept in terms of shape and fitment - i easily got my winter wheels in them , 195/65/15, but when i swapped wheels and stored my summer wheels in the same bags , 225/45/17, it was more difficult. Even though the overall diamtere is the same, the extra 30mm of tyre width and the squarer shoulders of the summer tyre set meant the bags were a squeeze.

I'd guess 225/40/18 would be maxing the width of the size g snowsocks, and making fitment more difficult than say 185/70/15.

Cheers.
It was a private sell and the seller was genuine by thinking they were OK for my tyres. He was a nice man, this is why there is no really any returns.
This is what I was told on the phone yesterday that they would be a little to big/ baggy. Great break down on the numbers clk270. Thank you.

Goodyear tyres called. Those socks are not made by them. Interesting as they use the same name/ logo but goodyear cannot stop them apparently. Odd...

I called the ebay shop and they are kind enough to swap mine for the proper size :)
cost to send them in and out but after all I will get the proper size "G" for under 40 pounds.
All good.

Good result :)

today

I tried those today, they are great. They took me in some places where I could never have got without. Up and down the hills no bother.
A little more complicated to fit then thought, but it was said previously, the bigger the tyres the harder.
Someone on anothert forum suggested to use a jack to lift the tyre, great tip :thumb:
I am really happy with those, no fear anymore of getting stuck somewhere due to a bit of snow :)
easy to forgot that you are going because of them tho and that they do not help braking...
