Hi, I just wanted to post this quick advice on fitting an aftermarket GPS antenna for units like the Becker Traffic Pro High Speed which is brilliant for Mercedes.
Obviously when I was waiting to receive it, I was already looking at threads of how to fit it. There are quite a few posts that recommend that the Glove Box is removed and the aerial is fitted behind the glovebox at the top of the dash on top of a metalic bar.
I think that is too much hassle. I simply removed the side panel of the passenger dashboard, very simple using a flat screwdriver. Then unscrew the top cover of the dash speaker and remove carefully upwards and towards you. My car has a good soundsystem, however these speaker holes were blocked.
Push through the pre-cut round dashboard trim and you can access the hole. I run the aerial through there carfully hiding the cable in the undershide cover of the dash which is also easy to remove.
I secured the aerial cable on one two sides so it would run below the aerial creating a base for it, then secured it on top. Everything is easy to replace and reception is great.
I trust this helps.
