Tried and tested, and works great for me and best of all it's free!

NAVFREE available for free download via the app store is a turn by turn satnav that uses GPS, voice guidance, auto-rerouting, turn by turn. It's driven by Navmii which apparently is a top selling navigation app. It's totally free and no fees. Also get free updates for the maps for life :thumb: The maps are stored on the device so data connection is virtually non existent, you only need to download the map on install so do this over wifi. Also data is required to search for addresses but as the maps are on the device map browsing and routing needs no connection.

I found it very easy to use and when compared to my stand alone TomTom it provided the same routes and as fast as the TomTom when navigating.

Works brilliant either on its own but definitely an app to have as a back up.

Downloaded last week and used once so far. Seems comparable to copilot on the iPhone if not quite as good a user interface as tomtom. Can't complain for free !

Has a great UI, but I find Skobbler more accurate.

Argh, I have just ordered an Iphone on Orange, and deliberately went for a tariff with their orange maps satnav, I wonder if it is the same?

Not sure mate, but I do know this is a very good sat nav app. Also free updates, downside is it works on the premise that users are reporting problems and issues.

I think they are going to release a paid version based on the TeleAtlas maps, same ones used by TomTom, although it will be a heck of a lot cheaper!

There was also talk of Google releasing there turn by turn navigation for the iPhone, but nothing as of yet!

One other thing is that the pocketgpsworld app is now true mutitasking, so it will sit in the background giving safety camera alerts while you have the nav software running.

Hi BO88IN great bit of software :thumb:thanks for putting this on the forum ,

downloaded this morning works very very well, you have to be by your computer( router) to download its over 20 mega bytes in size

I might have to say bye bye tom tom or at least to the map updates which cost more every year :bannana:

Cheers mate, good to share stuff, especially if its free!
Good thing is once it's downloaded there is very little data connection required, only need to calculate your route, the rest is all on the phone as the maps are stored locally.

But you will need a wifi connection to download it, or straight from iTunes to your pc/Mac and then upload to the iPhone.

Glad people are finding it useful, I certainly think its brilliant, some reports of it being wrong etc. But I guess this is true of all sat navs.

Looks like it will work on the iPod Touch and iPad as well.
