We do get an awful lot of our German neighbours visiting, partly due to a very popular TV series in Germany by Rosamund Pilcher.
Invasion not so much, not enough sun loungers.

For reasons I've never really understood she's something of a phenomenon in Germany, with dozens (hundreds?) of her books being turned into TV series or movies over there. I've suffered through quite a few of them while visiting the in-laws

IIRC she got some sort of award for encouraging tourism in the UK (especially Cornwall).
