Well what can I say..........had the remap done by Angel tuning in the end, after talking to various company's and hearing various silly claims or BS + outrageous prices!.

Spoke to Nigel who's the operations director, he came across very well and was very helpfull and after a few e-mails and a bit of reserch on his company and finding nothing but high praise and high regard for him the deal was done.

A few days later (today) a chap called Andy came to my works address at exactly the time that they said he would and started work, not sure what exactly as was supposed to be working! lol.

Anyway cut a long story short all done bar the ITG filters which where the wrong ones! but they are going to send me the correct ones in the post, they are easy to fit so no big deal really.

Ok so how does it feel?? well on a car with the best part of 500bhp are you really going to notice it :D ?? and on the first run in it I can safely say "NOT REALLY" other than being a tad more responsive and feeling a bit quicker in first + second..........however after a couple more blasts, I mean drives and 9mpg! It is quicker :thumb:.

Now better throtte responce CAN give the illusion that a car is quicker, a point I proved with my old BMW Z4 M coupe when I told a mate that the "sport mode" gave an extra 25bhp and he said "cor you can really feel it".....so Im vey wary of that. So trying to feel and look past that, the power not only feels more instant but stronger in terms of torque and feels a tad quicker over all. Full de-limit also done so all in all im happy sooooo far anyway, still early days yet ;)

Will find out what sort of extra power its making when I get it on a dyno again :thumb:

Put it in the correct section this time after some of my other posts have been moved...........and nobody's commented on it yet?! lol

Glad you noticed some difference.
Think you have to really go pulley, chip and de-limit to really have a noticable effect.

All of the above except the pully....would love one but just too expensive IMO and the cars erm quick enougth really and dont get chance to drive it like I did today very often + 9mpg when I do! lol

Yes prices are silly for the pulley unless you try one of the US tuners like VRP which has modded alot of cars and has some specials on once ina while. Problem is you have to send them your ECU and they remap it and send it back to you, so you could be carless for a week or so

Is this your only car? Seems a bit indulgent to "Sunday drive" at 9mpg!! LOL. How much did the remap cost in the end? If it makes a difference to response (depending on price) then it's been a worthwhile exercise. Bloody hell though....9mpg??? That's painful.

Yea seams like its made a difference, so worth it IMO......do have the use of a Renault megane turbo-diesel which seams to do 50mpg + no matter how you drive it! by the way get 12mpg running about here and there! but have seen 24.5 on a long motorway run, which may be a bit more now as mpg gains are also claimed, if you dont drive it like you stole it that is! lol

Looked at a fair few options and your right :thumb: never say never but not for the time being  lol

Bishy, Good write up and exactly what you should feel after just a remap on a '55 engine - sharper throttle response, you should also see about a 20-30bhp power increase but in all honesty they will only be slightly noticeable on the road.

Once I get my E55 and get it upgraded with pulley kit etc, I'll let you know how it goes and what price and maybe this might tempt you to go the whole hog!

Jules.

LAH LAH LAH LAH Im not listening! lol..............really dont want to spend that much  lol

Chap who did the remap said that they can do pulleys to, bit late now! but they will give me a discount as it would mean re-mapping again!, he's gonna call me with a price wait n see

cyclone any luck finding one?

Have to say after driving me E55 for 40K miles I averaged around 22-23mpg and I never hung around, as anyone who was a passenger in it would verify.
I was travelling up and down the country all week though so that reflected the better MPG but still one of my very favourite motors. Would have another anyday, best engine they made IMHO.
Makes me jealous reading these threads!

chip is useless without the pulley, been there and done it.
you should have dynoed before and after the remap to see roughly what gains you have as every 55k is different in power.

imo your gains were minimum , you just have an illusion of big gains, 15/20 bhp at best.

Asp do pulleys for our engines and are quite reasonable, mine cost $800 and £50 to get it fitted. only after chip/ pulley/filters did i see heavy gains.

I have to say that I disagree that a remap is useless?! a remap was the best desision for me at present after taking many things into consideration.

Ive have had many cars Chipped/remaped and have various modifactions done on cars over the years so I not daft and went into this with my eyes wide open, yes a pully and a remap give better results but I would only have a set proffesionaly fitted and a proven conversion from the likes of Kleemann and spending £2700 on that is just not an option for me at present.

I Do not have the spare cash at the mo due to taking somebody to court for money that they owe me so its left me a bit short:mad: and its also money that you wont see back on the car! so a big dision to loose whatever Im going to loose on the car (thats life but hey) when it comes time to sell + over 4k in mods if you included pully's etc and my wheels!).

Im very aware of the illision of power, I did mention that in my review if you read it...small gains but a gain never the less. My main opjective was to have a de-limit as im planning a road trip to Gernany etc etc next year and superchips quoted me £234 to do just that so I thought that an extra £100 or so and have a full remap and gain some more throttle response + a tad more power etc wasnt such a bad idea.

But as said before Im not saying that I will never fit Pully's...just not for the foreseeable

Let us know how you get on in Germany, as ive only topped 174 at bruntingthorpe but had too brake due to mile and quarter running out rapidly...

Only managed about 150 so far on a private track obviously ......bit bloody pointless having it de-limited other than my planned road trip! lol

Had my new ITG filters delivered the other day and fitted them yesterday (was supposed to be fitted with the remap but the chap was given the wrong ones).

Proberbly make no difference in performance, but they certainly cant hurt as the old ones we're in a hell of a state...car was serviced 6k ago which no makes me worry if and how well it was serviced??!!

anyway pics of the new filters + the state of the old ones!!

If anyone is considering an upgrade and would like a road test in mine they are very welcome, its a big spend which I avoided by purchasing the car already done.

I'm now having the Power throttle module fitted by Car Planet over in Warrington as it was explained to me to have the following benefits......

The stock AMG when you drive normally the car maps the throttle down so when you apply 25% of throttle you get 15%, if you apply 50% you get 35% up until 70% when it starts to catch up, if you drive the car hard for a few miles the car starts to tighten the throttle up so you get closer to what your asking for, this doesn't work for me, I want to press the pedal and get the same result whether I've been spanking it or Sunday driving it !!!
SKG Performance and Car Planet are so confident of just how good this module is they have both offered to fit it, test it, then pay for it if I'm happy!!!
