Half price MOT etc

Hi Will

If your MOT is due, go for it and put a bit of pressure on them. Mine was due and was booked in for Sat am before the GTG at a local garage. I cancelled it as I am now getting it free from MB Bromley and they have also agreed to collect and deliver the car back, so I can't complain :). Quite amazing on how they suddenly changed their tune though and went from £64 to free.

Hi Vij,

Well one of mine (the W201) is due in just under 2 months, and my old W124 is due sometime around early September IIRC.

I might call them tomorrow about the W201 and see what they say, perhaps book it in for a few weeks time - say 1 month early (for a 13 month MOT :)).

If it goes smoothly, I'd happily take the W124 there. Can't really see anything to lose and they're more than welcome to wash that one if they wish :D

All depends of course on whether they'll take part in this offer (1/2 price or FOC).

Doubt they see that many older cars like mine these days. They (MB) do/have had a fair amount of business from me in parts etc over the years, so I guess it's not too unreasonable to take advantage of such an offer :bannana:

Should be a laugh watching the 17 year old tech with waxed hair trying to find somewhere to connect Star in the footwell of the 124......

Agreed re the 13 month comment, here's the official line:

If the vehicle is tested within the calendar month prior to when the MOT is due, the test certificate will run from the date of the test to one year after the expiry date of the current certificate.

just get it done before the offer expires .. that way you still get some free MOT time, even if you 'loose' some of the current MOT period

Doesn't look as though MB Brooklands want to play ball :(
Mr XXXXX,

I am contacting you on behalf of Mercedes-Benz Brooklands. In responses to your e mail enquiry i regrettably inform you that this is not an offer we are operating from our site. Customers who have purchased a used or new vehicle from us in the last month are receiving a voucher book which includes offers such as complimentary MOT testing. If anything changes i will be sure to contact you.

Many thanks

Oh well - nothing lost I guess?

Not sure if it's worth me trying anywhere else - the offer would be offset by the hassle/time of taking it to another dealer.

Does anyone think it'd be better to phone someone else and ask? Otherwise I might as well just use my regular test centre, never let me down so far :)

Well you'd qualify for the 'Platinum Plus' scheme at M-B Guildford (don't know how far that would be for you). I didn't buy my SL from them, AFAIK it's open to all owners of 6+ year old M-B cars.

I think its called "rust plus" if you own a 210...

When I was trying to sort out this MOT issue up MB Lakeside last week and they told me that they no longer do the Platinum Plus scheme. So the A and B service prices have gone back to normal, and are no longer £150 and £250 for the older cars, and true enough it no longer appears on the wesites for the Lancaster group of MB dealerships.

Hi Will,

If there is a dealer close to you no harm in asking but call them and speak to the service manager and tell him that MB Stratford have offered it for free.

Regarding the hassle, the reason why I opted for them to collect and return my vehicle was because the MOT is not done on site and has to be taken to a separate testing station, so unless you don't have a problem with hanging around for hours, its not really a while you wait job.

Got mine free at stratford east London last week !!!:bannana:

Hehe. MB Stratford Team is great ! Never had a problem! I even go there to say hello :).
They always wash my car/-s. Special deals on brakes and services. And yeah...put a smile on your face when there:)
