hard water problems when washing!

Yet another reason for moving to SCOTLAND :D

Or Cumbria:) Even after 10 years the kettle looks like new. Still trying to get used to using a lot less washing powder after a hard water area...

I have the same issue.

Two solutions both work:

1; Detail Spray the car whilst went, and before you dry it. Will take off most of the water, and allow you to dry it fast.

2; Use Aqua Gleam deioniser hose attachment. Also works well, but can be expensive depending on the hardness of the water.

Final tip - don't wash your car in the sunshine - fatal for water marks.

Not a good idea really, throwing particles of dirt at your car at 170mph

eh? no airborne 'dirt' oop my way.....been doing this for years with no problems.

No different to the 'dirt' that 'hit's' your car when you drive down the road!

On that note sometimes I drive down road v fast to dry it off!

I have one of those, but have been unable to get the replacement filters for the past twelve months. Where do you get yours?

I bought a massive box of them in a poundshop so have enough to last me years....have a look on ebay..there are some on there but rather pricey, considering I paid £1 each for mine - wish now I had cleared the shop out.. :D

Thanks crockers. I did the same and bought a load at 99p, but sadly they have all gone. I saw those on eBay, but don't very much like the price.

Collect rain water in a water butt and use that to rinse it. Free, Enviro friendly and top results ;)

Wilkinsons stores slightly more expensive at £1.99 but still well worth it.

I'd check the pH of that rainwater before you use it. If it is anything like round here you would be kinder to the paint washing it in battery acid :D

Hmm, best not drive in the rain then :dk:

If it's raining round here my CLK stays in the Garage:thumb: Thats what the Volvo's for :D

Acidity in rainwater concentrates up on standing, seriously just dip it with a pH paper available from any garden centre ( 6.5 - 7.5 is fine)

Best thing to use is Mequiars last touch, diluted down, not usually available in High street, so look on Ebay or Detailing Supplies.
Do not use a Chamois and defiantly not one of those silicon blades (only to be used on Glass if your in a hurry )
Best to dry off are the Sonus drying clothes. superb

Slightly OT, I tried some of that demon shine the other day on the Mrs' Sh1troen, it was on special so I thought I'd try it. You're supposed to spray it on straight after rinsing without having to dry the car and then just polish off with a microfibre cloth.

I've concluded it's worth more for the spray bottle it comes in than the contents  Smear marks visible in the sun, get it on your screen and it's aweful and the "demon" shine is medioca to say the least.

I don't think you can't really beat a good quality chamois leather and regular polishing......... said the vicar to the rather damp nun :D
