Tried it last week with some 44 LED P21W white bulbs off eBay - not successful, they were not as bright as the normal bulbs so I took them out - and eventually got a full refund from the supplier! They were very cheap (under £6 a pair delivered from Hong Kong!) where others can be £15 each, so I'm wondering if the more expensive ones are better. However, with 8 P21W's in my rear light clusters I'm not going to experiment!
I've also read (don't know if it's true) that with red lenses you should use red rather than white LED's for bright red light.
I bought some non error bulbs already but it keeps coming with an error on the dash.
I have been advised to put a resistor across. I am going to try the resistors as I have ordered them. I will update you whether they work or not.
About putting a red LED to make it brighter its not true you have to use white LED's as they are much brighter.
If you would like a couple of 44 LED P21W bulbs to try, you can have the 2 I bought - for the postage (probably less than £1 for 1st Large!). PM me if interested. They did not, AFAIK, cause error messages, they're supposed to be canbus error free.

I wanted to update you on the rear tail lights.
You have to put 50w resistors if you have a 2011+ C-Class, to stop the error message coming up on the dash.
