Ok gang,

The time nears when my AMG's are going to be off for a refurb.

However i have been toying with the idea of having the body of the wheel done in a sort of pale gold / bronze colour ( like the Brembo caliper colour ) ... i'm not thinking of full gold wheels like subarus or clios ....

I think it would work very well with the metallic burgundy of the car ..

There is a photo of the wheel below , perhaps Shude could change the body of the wheel to the colour above ? I will be keeping the diamond cut lip though.

What does everyone think ?

EDIT :- It seems that no one likes the idea !! How about having the centres done in gunmetal grey as per the CL65 wheels ?

It has to be a personal choice but my vote is to keep to the original silver.

I think the pale gold would look kinda 'COOOOLLLLL'. Go for it.

Mercedes wheels are silver. It's the law!:)

You can only put silly colours on wheels if it is a racing motorcycle:o

I say go for Gold.

Then you can have that naff rear spoiler, the flashing LED's, the under car neons, tiger print seat covers and those furry dice you've been gagging for.

Ah, and don't forget to ask the Admin to change your forum name to Barry..

Keep the silver, gold wheels = Subaru Impreza = Boy racer. Any sensible people who own an Impreza the first job they do is swap the wheels to silver.

Nice

Stay Silver Howard.

The only wheels that look correct in a gold colour are BBS RS type rims.

There is a really slick silver 911 in the film "No Man's Land" with something very similar and I always thought it looked great! :)

Meanwhile I'll work on the photoshop of the rims.

I have the same AMG's on my CLK320 and they are looking very messy now with lots of the lacquer on the cut rims lifted and a few small rust bubbles.

So they need a refurb obviously but I have been advised that the polished rims are a problem and eventually they lacquer will lift again so I'd be best having the whole rim painted.

What do we all think? I prefer the polished rim but if it's gonna look tatty again in 12 months maybe I can live without.

Also any advice as to who best to use? I'm on the Hants/Surrey border. Clean Wheels Uk in Camberley have quoted about £350 for a full strip, mend and paint.

Well , a lot of people have used BJV Engineering to do theirs , but there were a couple of bad stories last year about them.

However , i am going to use them , they have quoted £180 for a full strip , diamond cut lip, and painted centre. They will pick up from my place too and deliver them back. :bannana:
