Headlight Adjustment For E320CDI

I´m now convinced there is a problem with the antena, as I can locate maps, but it doesn´t locate my position at all.

Are there any troubleshooting tips for receiving sat signals?

It should tell you how many satellites at the bottom of the map display

2004 would be a W211 Check here - Mercedes-Benz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yes the lever is under the black cap next to the bulb. Go carefully, they can snap easily. Make sure ignition is OFF, very high voltages present!!

Just taken my Car to mercedes here in Spain- asked them if they could quickly flick the lights over for me- and they have told me the lever doesn´t exist!!

I highly doubt whether they have actually looked. They are quoting me serious money to change the entire lighting system.

Even if there wasn´t a lever, you can buy cheap adapters.

The lever should be there right?

This is a pic I took of the lever in mine. Can't now remember if it's N/S or O/S but I couldn't reach it with the headlight in place and took the thing out in the end. (I do have shovels for hands though.) Not an easy job cos the bumper has to come out. Is your car built for the British market? in which case I'm pretty sure it should have them fitted; or is it LHD anyway in which case maybe not. What the lever does is change the dip from asymetric left to near central with a small kick to the left but not up. It doesn't change them to dip right.

edit....just see you got the car from Jay so it will be RHD.

It takes very little effort to move the lever over. Maybe if you got one of those mirror-on-a-stick thingies you could see where it is and flick it with a lolly stick or similar.

Thanks for that.

So A big job to access?

When you say it doesn´t make them dip right, does that mean that they still would not pass a Spanish MOT?

All the lever does is move a shutter over the lens to block off the top of the light pattern. It doesn't turn RHD lamps into LHD lamps.

I don't know whether or not it would pass a Spanish MOT.

Take off the large black plastic cap on the rear of the lamps and see if you can ID the lever. iirc the one on the left (as you're facing the car) is fairly easy got at.

It makes them dip straight. I don't know Spanish requirements. I think the basic purpose is to enable RHD cars for continental touring. The plastic outer lens wont support stick-on beam benders. It may be that cars built for the LHD market don't have this facility which is why your garage hadn't heard of it. How many Johnny foreigners are expected to use their cars in the UK and would they care anyway?

I thought it was the case that they had never heard of this lever before.

You´d have thought that if it adjusts them for European touring then it would be legal. Whatever the case, I´m sure their are cheaper alternatives than paying €2500 !!!

Do you have to change the foglight to the other side?

The prices of cars here are ridiculous, hence me buying a British car. If I wanted the equivalent merc in spain I´d be lucky to get one for €22,000. And they don´t look after their cars here at all + their roads are terrible which takes a toll.

I think there is a difference between touring and exporting. What is acceptable for one may not be the case for the other.

Fogs should be ok as they are "flat" anyway

Rear fog(s) perhaps?

Ooops! Good point :o

I think the fittings are there, would it be as simple as removing bulb from drivers side and fitting in the passenger side?
