headlights on S211 2004/5

Hi, how do i change the headlights to use on the continent? my car is a w211 S211 E320 cdi 2004/5. I do not want to use those sticky adapters from Halfords. I have heard they may be a switch? any help please as i travel on Sunday morning at 2am... regards Franklyn.

If you pull off the cover for the main headlight, on the side there is a lever to raise or lower a cover which stops the glare for other drivers.
