Hi. Here's a post of mine from another forum. Somebody here might be able to help.

I've just bought the this car and the heated rear screen isn't working. No light comes on in the switch either. I've checked the fuse and it's ok. I was trying to get at the terminals to see if there's any voltage but I was worried about breaking the trim. Is it ok to pull the rear pillar trim off or will I break plastic poppers? I get the feeling that there won't be any voltage at the terminals because of the lack of a light in the switch. Is this indicative of something obvious like a relay fault maybe or a duff switch? If it is a relay, where is it?!!

Sorry there's so many questions but I'm new to Merc's and the W124...

Sorry, this is for W202 (misread your model type)

This is the combined flasher/multifunction Relay.
This is situated UNDER the main fuse board on the driver's side.

Surprisingly, this also controls the HRW, intermittent wipe/wash, as well as the indicators/hazards.

Initially, I suspected the other black box relay, which is held down with an overcentre clamp. However that had no obvious faults.

The combined relay was a very different story, however. It's a swine to prise apart, as my thumb in the picture bears testimony.

I've marked the connections that were cracked on my relay, although I would suggest you resolder all the base to board joints, to be sure.

All wash wipe + indicator functions are now fully restored to normal, including the hit or miss HRW, which was driving me mad by only refusing to work when the car was stone cold.

Reposted to link picture to my current WebHost.

When blanket soldering do apply fluxed solder, do not have the iron too hot as this burns the flux, good joints are bright and shiny, should not take 5 mins to do the lot
