Heated screenwash

Here's my attempt, £2.80 worth and a 1 way valve :p. Not tested fully yet.

Great thread! Good ideas all round.

It does seems like a bit of a pain in the backside though...
What have you guys got against screen wash with anti freeze in it...? :ban:

Good stuff gets expensive ,and hot water cleans much better! I'm gonna try a few experiments this week with copper piping, and try and make something similar to the Saab one.

Nowt but like the OP, I've plagued with smeary windscreens but also I might be very fussy on it, I've tried all sorts, so I'll give this a whirl and then maybe try to get the proper thing from a scrappy.

I thought you were using the Saab one?

I am, but would like to have a go at replicating it for our Volvo too!

this looks a great idea Andy. Please can you post back soon with how you find it and whether the pumped power is the same at the jets :thumb:

Jet speed is the same but water temp not tested proper yet.

Great found Andy :thumb:
I think I need to get some tubbing now. I tried to do it with somr copper but it was too complicated.

Do the later W210s have heated jets or bottles? I can't find anything about it in the handbook.

I got heated jet but this is mainly for the jet not to frost, this is too little to heat the water at the speed it comes out. The jets do get frosty tho, last years at some minus temperature you needed to wait a bit untill the engine bay warmed up a little.

all 208s, 210s and 202s have heated jets but there is an option (rarely taken in the UK) for heated reservoir (looks like a kettle element inside) and heavy, braided hosing to more aggressively heated jets.

Heated washer bottle
