Hi Guy's,I have a 2009 Veto Van which is left in France for months on end and I have been told NOT to disconnect the battery as it will mess up the ECU etc BUT WHEN I GO back the battery is always flat anyway.
So my question is can I just remove the Negative off the battery as its a fairly new one I would think from past experiences on other cars it was alway fine with no problems ,WOULD THIS BE OK on the Veto to do or does it mess up the electronics as this Merc man told me ?
I am unable to park near a power point or I would leave a trickle charger on it any help would be gratefull,
Many Thanks

The ECU will lose it's customised memory of exactly how your particular engine runs sweetly. So it'll default to it's standard mappings, which is fine (it was designed for your engine when new), but it'll refine and relearn there on, to account for differing fuel qualities, etc.

So all that'll happen is it might run slightly less smoothly as it normally does, but it'll relearn after a few hours driving.

Hi I thought that might be the case I had that on A BMW it just takes a bit as to how you drive it .Many thanks for the quick reply
