The silver one.
Dont use it very often so when i do it always needs a charge.
Give it a full charge and works fine as always.
Update via TomTom website still works fine.
Back into box and now it wont switch on.
Ring TomTom tried reset switching on and off charging okay etc send it in for repair they say, great says i off to Germany next week:eek:.
Any ideas?

Is it one that uses an SD Card? If so, take it out, reset unit, turn on and replace SD Card when prompted. If not, sorry, can't help!

Mine once wouldn't turn on without the 12V power lead attached (although the battery was fully charged). Plugged in the lead and it powered up OK. Worth a try?

Try connecting it to your cigar socket,10 minute drive, then see if it will switch on.

CAMBRIDGE(shire) GTG this Saturday (21st) :bannana:

TomTom runs entirely off the SD card (if it has one) so you can literally back it up and restore the device (with a new SD card if necessary) by copying the whole thing to a backup folder.

Probably doesn't help you here but useful to know. :|

Tried it on 3 chargers the 240volt one, usb one and the car one all light up the green led but no screen will not power up.
Has a slot for sd card but i dont use it as all maps on the hard drive.

Have you held the power button in for a few seconds?

Does sound suspiciously dead. Can you hear the hard drive spinning (I suspect it's solid state memory so probably not - but a distinctive clicking or grinding noise = dead hard drive).

Silly question perhaps - have you done the 'pin in the tiny hole in the rear' reset? I know your first post said 'reset' but just wanted to make sure!

BTW which TomTom model is it??

Lynall, I have a TT 540 go that your welcome to use for your journey, and send yours off for repair.

Doesn't help because its not true.

Thanks for all the replies now of to Halfords to get new one seems easiest and quickest way.

Was going to get latest comand disc but there seems to be some question of accuray regarding small back roads etc as disc is titled major roads of europe and neither want any arguments:D

Mark thanks for the offer but i hate borrowing things, borrowed a drill years ago dropped it and had to buy mate a new one, so i bought a drill but still never owned a drill, ever since then i make sure i have all my own stuff/gear and steer well clear of borrowing anything in case history repeats itself:eek:.

Will send old one of for repair then e bay it i think.

Umm, maybe they've changed since they made the one I upgraded but you can copy the original SD card into a folder and then back onto a new SD card and everything's transferred over, maps, POIs, favourites, recent destinations etc.

Feel free to finish your post at some point..

The latest version of TomTom Home allows you to back up & restore your TomTom, whether SD card or hard drive model.

Thats exactly what it says in the instructions of the new one i have just bought.
