Do not know much about setting up screens, entertainment etc, but have been trying to search this great forum and know a lot of forum members may be able to help.

I am planning to purchase a S500(2001) which has command, tv and a nokia phone installed. I am hoping to add the following added but dont know where to start

(A)Wish List:
  1. Screens on the rear headrests (which type? size? best ones to go for?)
  2. DVD player installed (which type? multi player? where to install? best one to go for?)
  3. PS2 Console (where to install? Connections?)
  4. Telephone which can be incoparated in to the setup some how to allow hands free driving?(There is 6210 cradle setup but not sure how this works?)
  5. Linguatronic (Worth adding?)
  6. Remote control/Wirless headphones

(B)Further thoughts:
  • Before I purchase do I need to check for anything which may make setting up entertainment set up easier?
  • What are the dis(&adv)antages of the above wish list?
  • Are there any areas which I should not bother with or may not be as good as expected?
  • Will the command/tv be incoparated into the rear screens?
  • What is the best setup???
  • There is refridgerator between the rear seats, will this complicate things?

(C)Not sure how much this is all going to cost...
  1. Who are the best/and good value for money for this sort of work?(obviously not the stealers  )
  2. How much will all this cost?
  3. Can I drive the cost down?Best way to get a deal?
  4. or should I try and wait and find an S class which has all this done??
Sorry if there are many questions here, but there is much confusion, and all help and advice is much appreciated...

Cheers

Hi Jig,

Good luck to you you will have great fun doing this. I have nearly completed mine (pics in gallery, E430), only TV tuner left to source.

The screens I fitted come complete, already installed in a new headrest, not only do they look great they were quite well priced. This also gives the advantage that they can be removed and the car returned to stock condition.

I found it easier to bypass the PS2 PSU and wire the PS2 direct from the cars 12v, this way a power inverter was not required, you may also find it easier to wire a restet switch to the rear seats.

A switching arrangement will be required to input all your devices independantly to each screen and command.

I can knock you up a quick schematic of my arrangement it may give you some ideas.

Regards P.

As much as I prefer to stay out of naming a business I think you are looking to become a BrayBrooks customer. They seem to know about these modifications.

I'll 2nd Miro on that one - give Neil there a call....

They are not cheap, but they do a VERY good job. You pays for what you gets, so they say...

I've used them in the past, and been pleased with the results. They are happy for you to source and supply parts elsewhere, and use them as a fitting service. They admit that they are not the cheapest supplier, but one of the better fitters.

I would guess you would be looking at £1500-£2000 to properly fit the kit you have listed, but call them and discuss.

PS - I sound like an ad for them !! - Neil's kids go to the same school as my older one, and they help the school fund raisers, etc....so I am a bit biased.... ;)

No, doesnt sound like an ad, your right it might be a good idea to get all the bits myself at the right prices and then get them to do the install and hence try and drive the price down a little?

you could always go for the pukka S class rear screen that fits to the rear of the front centre armrest .

I have such a system for sale in classifieds - just needs a loom. I know Brabrooks can fit this kit . headsets plug in rather than remote.
