:( Anyone know how to open the bonnet on a 190 when the cable from the bonnet release to the catch has snapped. :
There is very little room at the front of the engine bay with the Brabus engine in place.
Is the catch in the center or to the left or right. A photo would be a great help.

Martin dont know if this helps but, the catch is central. the leaver moves to the left to release you bonnet (looking from the front of the car) so you have to pull the cable securing fastner to the right. I looked at mine this evening (ok W124 but very similar) and I think if you insert a long narrow screwdriver through the 4th vent down from the top of the grill you should be able to catch the lever. But please, dont damage that car in any way.

Thanks Ian I will have a look later today when I have finished work.
If I can not open the bonnet I will have to take the car to someone who can. I think a bodyshop will be better than a garage.
I could always hold a competion along the lines of Who ever can open the bonnet of the car without damage can have a drive.

:D :D :bannana: :bannana:

Got it open with the help of thr RAC took 2 hours of messing around.
We had to cut the plastic grill at the front of the bonnet to get access to the lock. The cable had not snapped it had disconected its self. I now have a 6" square hole in the front grill. I wonder how much a new one will be.

So the RAC man didn't get his "drive" then. :D :D

Its a B*gger when that happens isn't it, as they are supposed to be thief proof so not easy to access.

Anyway back on the road whilst the summer lasts eh mate. :bannana:
