Help with car registration

you're very good as a detective! lol...

Not really , it was the only on AT in Scotland :D

As stated , it looks a well kitted car especially with the Pano roof.

Kenny

Actually the seller just found the MOT certificate and it also turns out he didn't send the V5 to the DLVA! So everything can be done properly.

Checking the MOT history, the mileage is real.

I guess I will only have to worry about this:

MOT Advisory Notice issued:

Nearside Front Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)
Nearside front and offside front exhaust support brackets corrode off exhaust at gearbox
Nearside rear exhaust support bracket corroded off exhaust

Don't think it's too expensive to replace.

My plan was to service the car asap at Merparts anyway.

The owner doesn't have the MOT certificate and he's saying he doesn't have the V5C either as it has been sent to the DVLA to remove and retain the personalised registration

Surely he must have known about the V5`s whereabouts in the first place

Hope it is a genuine mistake but for what it is worth, if it was me, the alarm bells would be ringing.

Does the V5 address match where the car is located , what about the private plate ?

Kenny

I agree. I was confused myself.
I guess it's all because he's not the owner neither the keeper, but a sister or a sister in law. He thought she had sent it already.

For the plate they will request a removal and I'll have the original plates when they arrive. Isn't that the usual?

Which will all take time as the V5 along with the MOT will need to sent to Swansea to get the reg. number changed.

If it were me I would ask him to call you when ALL paperwork is 100% in order and you want to purchase the car from the actual owner, who will need to sign the relevant docs. and a receipt , at the address stated on the V5.

With any private purchase you need to cover all bases as there have been too many people ripped off taking sellers at face value with things like this.

Kenny

Thank you for all the advices.

Well, it's done now so I'm just hoping nothing goes wrong. What really got me nervous was when he told me he didn't have the MOT certificate, no V5, etc. This way, I wouldn't be able to even get the V5C/2 section.

Because actually he's intention was to remove the private plate first and then sell me the car. But it's me who needs a car like NOW. Using my head, maybe I should get another car. But using my heart, and after driving this car...

By the way Kenny, do you also work very close to Paisley?

Sonny, you will have to keep us posted on your progress. I'm sure everyone joins with me in saying we hope all goes well!

It's a very nice looking car.

Thanks!

Now I need it serviced at Merparts if possible and then have it cleaned!
