Mercedes C180 Kompressor Evolution
Hi, i'm paul from Edinburgh, i just bought a C180 Kompressor Evolution 56 plate with 20800 on clock, 1 owner, full Mercedes history, every service bill and Mot..Mercedes said they think this is the lowest mileage in UK..car is minted including engine bay..I'm unsure is i can post pictures but here they are. Hope i can get some good advice on here about potential faults etc..Mercedes Edinburgh gave a free health check and said it needs new front discs and pads but i agree with only the discs as they are a bit lipped plus 2 new rear tyres and i agreed cause cheap budget ones are on it and the insides look bad..plus no air con re-gas listed in the service history although it works fine..cheers,

Cheers for replying, it was actually on ebay and only 18 miles from me, mileage is genuine, but i made a fatal mistake..if you look at front of car the below number plate the grill was missing..i never seen that..cost me £136 including fitting last monday..this is the site you learn from i hope :) and ps: 3 years ago the service had advisory...front grill missing but i saw that after i bought it..

Looks pretty good for its 10 yrs, obviuosly cherished by the previous owner.

Regarding the disks and pads, I always understood you should fit new pads when changing disks, presumably to ensure the mating surfaces are in proper alignment.

Whether the disks need replacing is usually determined by measuring the disk thickness and comparing to the manufacturers minimum limit. I would assume MB Edinburgh have done this, but you could always ask them to confirm.

PS £136 is a long way from fatal for Mercedes Benz

Cheers, just checked the MB green/amber/red checklist and it says front pads both sides 10 amber with rear pads green 8..front discs have no measurement just says badly lipped..£453 to front discs and pads, £89 for air con re-gas, and £140 for underneath waxing to preserve car as vehicle is in excellent condition..ain't paying £453..can do them myself with brembo ones for around £100..1 other point, put the reg into their website and it said £316 for discs and pads, this was before i took it into them, now the website no longer accepts the reg, it says contact dealer so i think they are doing the Mercedes 'how much money can we make of this client' lol

Had one of those years ago

Great car, and you've got the really nice interior / seats aswell

Nice

Wow a brand new 56 plate, well done, crazy low mileage, used only on sunday's to go to church.

Get the parts to do the brakes, - you could look at "brakes4U" online, EBC pads are good, you will save a fortune....

Welcome to the forum, that car looks immaculate.

Just a thought have the tyres checked if they are the originals then 11 year old rubber is not what you want at the corners.

Fab looking car, well done there.

If you change the discs you should defo always change the pads.

A/C systems should be serviced annually. Don't gat tempted with the DIY tins of refrigerant get an A/C specialist to do the job correctly, pull the gas/oil out, refill with correct volume of gas/oil. If the dryer canister is easily accessible then depending on cost might be worth swapping that whilst the system is empty. Swapping cabin pollen filters is always a good idea too.

Tyres - you get what you pay for, its all that keeps the car in contact with the road. Something made by the big players (think Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, Conti) will play dividends. Tracking worth doing to if only to gat max life out of the new tyres.

Finally find a good local Indie, one that has a STAR machine, at some point you will get issues and need somebody with a STAR to pinpoint the fault.

ENJOY.

That's a really nice condition car for it's age.
I wouldn't worry too much about brakes cost... if you do them yourself you can be all in for around £200-£250 if you fit Pagid brakes from Ecp (these are as good as oe imho).
I was steadfastly only going to use MB for services and parts with mine, but in all honesty it can sometimes be more cost effective to shop around and do some things yourself (if you are able to).

I have no idea how you found one with such low mileage, truly amazing.
Are these fitted with the Mitsubishi gdi unit?? Or is that a complete myth?

Please understand, i have no idea what you mean about the mitsubushi question?..this car is my 1st merc.. as my previous comments, this car was on ebay..from 2007 (1st service) every single service bill including the credit/visa card receipt is attached from Mercedes and same for every mot done by mercedes even though they use a 3rd party..plus they confirmed mileage/service history over the phone before i bought the car..the other receipts show 2 new front tyres good ones, but later 2 budget rear ones which is why i had the advisory...as for the front brakes, must be the originals..i'm happy to post pics of any documentation to prove..you are right this car is amazing..
