MB 2013 c220 estate
Hello lads and lasses

Just bought a 3yr old C220 blue eff estate with 82500 miles on it.

So far impressed with the ride but the mpg is rubbish, only getting around 40-45 on a combined drive from start and that's not taking off the 7%.

Hope to get involved in all the discussions etc

Regards

Wow No one wants to say hi. I must be the only one with no comments.

Cheers then

Welcome to the forum, not sure why but maybe your post for some reason did not show immediately.

I am using Tapatalk and have it set to show unread posts and cannot recall seeing yours this morning.

But none the less I feel sure you would have received some welcomes in time.

Hi and welcome! Sometimes the Forum can be slow, do not give in!

Did you buy from the MB dealer in Salisbury? I have found them fairly good and the parts department are helpful.

As for the mpg, it depends on your type of journey and length, it has been rather cold a few times recently and diesel engines do take some time to warm up, is your engine getting up to around 88Degrees C?

Hello

I bought the car from a small Garage in Southampton.
I Know the MB garage in Salisbury well from the occasional Euro car parts sale and the missus and I drooling whilst in the forecourt lol.
I will be getting the car serviced there with there plan they do.

The merc does indeed get up to 88 degrees. so far the mpg is based on a 50 mile round trip on mainly country a roads.

Was diving a civic cdti which was getting 55mpg ish.

Thanks for the welcome :thumb:

I do not run a Diesel car but I do not think the newer MB Diesel engines are renowned for high mpg figures, you will probably get significantly better on long motorway trips though, also, remember that your new car is significantly heavier than the Civic.

My 320 V6 Petrol will average around 28mpg on country roads but get to 35mpg on a motorway run.

If you want the details of a good and local independent MB specialist let me know.

Hello again

Is the indy either headlands or pkf?

I'm hoping that the rain and deep puddles is playing a big part in the mpg figure.

Hello Good Evening and Welcome.

82.5k that's a lot for a three year old.
Guess it's got full service history.

It will be motorway miles so not a big deal for a diesel.

Thats pretty good for a petrol, my 3.0l V6 diesel ML gets to about 35mpg on a run and 26ish around town but i have seen as low as 20mpg on a very short run before the engine warms up. By comparison my 5.0l V8 SL is good for 30mpg on a run but only 16-18mpg around town.
