Hi chaps - just wanted to say what a great forum. Very helpful and constructive. I'm about to join the band of merry MB owners - get a 4 month old SLK 320 on Thursday - can't wait. Moving up from an MGF VVC.

I'm getting it Diamondbrite protected - is that a good idea? Is there anything else I should know - or is it too late?

Hi Pammy - welcome :D . I'm sure Brian will be along shortly with a request for pics to go in the Member's Gallery when you pick your SLK up ;) .

Re; Diamondbrite. My g/f had this done to her previous car (just between you and me <whispers> a vauxhall corsa </whispers>) and to be hosest, it was a real pain. Her car was black and you are not supposed to wax/polish it so it was covered in blemishes, including road tar, that wouldn't come out. You get some special "stuff" you wash the car with, but it didn't help. I eventually polished it with Autoglym (taking off the Diamondbrite in the process) which made it look better than the day it came out of the showroom! :p

Of course, it could just have been a bad application, or it was the wrong colour or we did something wrong - but I personally wouldn't bother with it. YMMV.

Cheers
Andrew

Pammy,

Welcome to the forum :D Nice car you're getting, we have a few SLK owners on the forum who I'm sure can give you a more detailed low down on your new car.

As for Diamondbrite, I know nothing about this product but I've just done a quick search on Google and the product seems to have very mixed reviews. Equal numbers of 'fors' and 'against'.

I look forward to seeing piccies of your new motor on the Gallery. :D

Hi Pammy,

WTTC :D

I had DiamondBrite applied to my car when I bought it - 2 years ago. It did look good at first, but TBH I wasn't very impressed after a while - especially considering how much it cost. If you're happy enough to spend time waxing your car yourself (regularly) then buy some Zymol - http://www.scweurope.com/ It's pricey as far as waxes go but still much cheaper than DB and gives fantastic results. I use the Titanium Estate Glaze.

Cheers,
Simon

Thanks for the welcome and info'n on DB. It's been done now so we'll have to see how it goes:rolleyes:

I'll let you have the full run-down on the car and some photo's later.

Looking forward to being part of the forum.:D :bannana:

Not to let you down Flyer.

Welcome Pammy, yes pictures in the Gallery are a MUST.:D :D

Any problems with posting them let me know. PM me and I will assist.

Enjoy your new purchase and you are very welcome to ask us any questions on your new machine. We will endeavour to assist.:bannana: :bannana:

Again - thanks for the welcome, I will get photo's done - as for the colour - 'tis Bright Silver with Black leather and Birds Eye Maple - not the most exciting colour - but it'll do me:D

It's also got Xenons and Heated seats - yum yum a nice warm bum:D

Hasn't got Bose - which I would have preferred so will see how the FF cd goes. Did have a DAB system on the MGF that's got to go:( the only ariel option I've seen looks like someone's stuck sellotape on the window - won't do, so I'm gonna have to make do with no MP3 player or DAB stations:(

I am so looking forward to owning this car though:bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

You might find yourself wearing a silly grin the first few times you drive it, you'll not find it mentioned anywhere in the literature but it's a standard option on most MBs :D

*fights urge to comment about colour* :p ;)

Colour?

COLOUR?

I'm not saying a word.

Welcome Pammy. I look forward to the pics and the banter. It certainly sounds the biz!.

Regards,

K

BLUE ROCKS

And a welcome from me to Pammy, enjoy yourself and as Shude says, A Big Wide Grin is definatley going to happen. (still have mine). Looking forward to your pics.

Bob:devil:

lol - you 'ickle devil you:-D

BTW - very glad you're all fighting the urge to comment on the colour - at least it won't look mucky as soon as I pull it out of the garage - lol - (Can't do the smilies coz I'm at work and they don't work for some bizarre reason)

The grin - I've been carrying that since I paid for the car on Saturday - driving everybody mad - tee hee!

....excellent choice of colour . . . the BEST ;)

you'll never need to wash it !!

<runs!>

A Mercedes isn't a real Mercedes unless it's silver - feel free to ignore anybody who disagrees. After all ...

would Man Utd have an image problem if they changed the colour of their kit and became, say, the Blue Devils?

would the mobile phone company Orange still be successful if they changed their logo to, say, white?

would Henry Ford have sold as many Model Ts if he'd said "you can have any colour you want, so long as it's yellow"?

would grass stain as much if it was beige?

In other words, some things just have to be a certain colour, and a Mercedes must be silver. QED.

:D ;)

I can't believe you guys ....

normally the non silver brigade would be going for blood just now , but youre all backing off . :) Just cause we have a Lovely female !!

Its ok Pammy , youre one of us :) never mind those colour bullies .. :D :bannana: :bannana:

Maybe they are quiet because they know its true :p

ps does it matter which shade of Silver you have?
