Welcome Jonny.
I am planning a holiday in Portugal next year sometime, so maybe we could swap ideas etc?
I've been to the Algarve a few times. Where are you thinking of going?

Oh, and hello jonny :D

Hi jonny, I know nothing about mercedes cars even though I recently bought my first one, a little about some other stuff, and nothing about your country, I speak a little spanish, but very little, and to me the fact you are writing in English, shows you have done far better than I could, so welcome to these forums:)

Hi Rebel, thank´s for the welcoming, the fact you said that you know nothing about merc´s, isn´t totaly true, ´cause if you bought mercedes, instead of other brand, means that you really know how to distinguish a real car from a "transportation can"...:D Just joking:D
You don´t know nothing of my country??? You don´t know what you´re missing (in summer)! In Winter is just another cold, rainy and grey place of our planet. 1 of the things i like about the UK is the fact, that it snows during winter, it´s not so wonderful when going to work, or in rush traffic hour, but in Christmas, must be Beautiful!
Thank,s for the compliments, but the thing is...never give up on learning other peoples language, sometimes it becomes useful. and if you speak a bit spanish, just keep learning, mabey some day you´ll find it useful if you come in holliday's to Portugal, the portuguese and spanish language are not to different!:D

jonny i would have 2 disagree on that :P

winter in portugal isn't just another "rainy and grey place of our planet.." is so much more than that.
lots of people knows portugal mainly because of algarve, but portugal is so much more than that.. even in the winter! last winter i've seen so many wonderful things around our little country..that you can't imagine! :)

Rebel, portuguese isn't that hard... Sir Bobby Robson learned it in ...1 year? and he speaks a fluent portuguese..speaking on bobby robson you guys knew that Jose Mourinho (yes the chelsea boss) 1st job on professional soccer was a simple translator of Bobby Robson?
It's true.. Robson arrived to portugal and didn't knew how to speak portuguese..so he hired José Mourinho to translate everything he said to the players. At that time Mourinho was just a "physio", but he was hired just because he knew how to speak english... so Rebel, believe me..it's good to know foreign languages! :D (and i'm sure mourinho agrees with this) Jose Mourinho followed him on FC Porto ; Sporting CP ; Barcelona...
once a translator, today a 90.000£ for month. sweet huh?? ;)

JobSeeker, you should go to madeira island on the new years eve.. the fireworks are simply amazing and one of the best of the entire world.

brian your portuguese (almost) rockz! :D kidding... was nice to see some portuguese words in this forum :)

Grav88 have u ever came to portugal? i don't know what's the type of vacations u like the most, but i can give you some points if you need.

a big hug to all,

Bom Dia.. Welcome to the "Club" Jonny, I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I"ve been to Portugal a few times, always really enjoyed myself. I have been to Porto mostly, love the place. We go mainly to visit my wifes parents, she is Portuguese, from Porto. They live in Maia.

I really enjoy all the Cafes & Bars, especially on the Foz & Matostinhos. Also love the Frango with peri-peri, not to mention Bacalau of course.

Will be going there next year for sure, missed it this year unfortunately.

Anyway, I"m sure there will be lots of discussion & help here, enjoy.

Ciao, Bill.
