Hidden or not very well documented "features" on your Mercedes ?

If you're at traffic lights and press the brake pedal a little harder, that blue P turns into the word HOLD, and you can take your foot off the brake without it creeping forward.

Thanks Revvd. Tried it out today. That's just what I wanted. I haven't checked but do the brake lights stay on?

Did in my last W211 E and do in my current W216 CL.

Unfortunately, yes.

Not on mine.

Speed Limit Assist on my SL is amazing:

it knows that certain signs don't apply to cars (i.e. signs for lorries), so it does not display them

it even translates German signs into English!

Tunnel mode..

Open all your windows and sunroof to different states of open..

Press and hold the recirculation button on AC and they will close..

Press and hold it again and they will open to where you had them before..

I'm surprised it wasn't already here, maybe it's so well known nobody bothered?;)

Tunnel mode is a bit different on the C63... open all the windows, stick the gear selection mode in S+, plant your foot on the accelrator, and take in that glorious sound.

My CLS has got this hidden feature that just when you think that you up to date with the maint and repairs then something else goes wrong . Nothing about this in the sales blurb.

On a plus side i never run out of password suggestions for the monthly update in work.

This month it is - FrontspringXX , last month it was - GlowplugXX , the month previous it was - Discs+padsXX.

If i had bought a Lexus i would have to resort to family / dog / holiday names and where would the fun be in that.

Kenny

That is brilliant. Was doing the same as well. I feel your pain, had a CLS320 CDI 2007 vintage. No shortage of passwords too. O2 sensor, MAF sensor etc.
I am having to resort to generic stuff now that I swapped to a 2011 vintage E350 haha

Maybe this is widely known already, but I just discovered that you can open all the windows and roof using the key. You unlock the car then press and hold the unlock button on the key. After a few seconds it starts to open all 4 windows and sunroof. You have to stand very close to the driver's door to make it work though. Works in reverse when locking up too. Great in summer weather!

An extra twist when locking is that after pressing and holding the key to close the windows and roof you can let go and then press once more to close the roof blinds.

It's a shame you have to stand there like a wally pointing the key at the driver's door though. That's one of the few things that bug me about the Mercs. On the M3 I had previously you could just double press the lock button quickly and it would all close up itself while you strolled away.

Nobody RsTFM anymore :)

I recently found out that if you're driving along with any Windows or sunroof open and you press the 'Air recirculation' button the Windows and sunroof will close automatically. Then reopen when you next press the button. Thought that was fairly neat.

It is already here. I said it. :D

Yep. That annoys me too. Fords Globel opening/closing is much better.

When the memory for received text messages is full on NTG2 COMAND, it gives 4 beeps when turned on.

I found this out when using a Vodafone sim card in my SAP v4 and hadn't requested Vodafone to cease their marketing sms's to that number.
